I've been wearing two braclets related to the missing IU student Lauren Spierer (findlauren.com) on my left wrist but the "Save the Pooper" had to go on the right wrist. Didn't think it was appropriate to wear them all on the same one... Again, congrats and good luck.
Best news ever today You just made our PJ20 weekend even more special x1000
Its great to hear from you Rob--!! I sent you a PM but I'm going to say it again-- WOOHOO!!!!

because I have been the super patient, they are sending me home tomorrow  . maybe they don't want me hanging around for the labor day weekend :?
my IV is out, my drain is out, I put my own bag on and I'm off the dilaudid.
they keep rolling me on my side and marveling over how "fantastic" my pooper looks  . it's downright embarrassing...now I know how j-lo feels.
my gut hurts bad but I may as well lay around at home as opposed to here. apparently my grandma was in the hospital for 6 weeks when she had a similar procedure in 1942

Great! Glad to hear you're coming home so soon. I had dilaudid when I had my stroke - it was VERY helpful. I hope they can find something less harmful but just as effective for you at home.

So you are a super pooper!
I thought they usually send the more obnoxious patients home faster so they can get rid of them. :P
You will definitely get well faster at home. Just no roughhousing with Gracie for a little while!
Although I'm betting she will be happy to just hang out and nap with Dad.
Get on home and take in one of the hundred various "marathon" showing on TV.
Storage Wars
Billy the Exterminator
Weeds
Swamp People
the list goes on and on and should put you to sleep with very little help from the Oxy.
that sounds tempting, because the TV here sucks
as it turns out, I'm staying another day....I may even have to pay out of pocket but it gives me comfort to hang out one more day with the professionals. my catheter came out and I already peed, normal style (super patient, you know? ). I just took my first shower since monday night and I'm feeling pretty good. I'l take a few more pills, walk my laps, eat some more, get an ambien tonight and go home feeling good

Awesome Rob! Great for you! Keep hanging tough with that positive attitude. Take it slow on the solid food until your body re-adjusts. But don't skip the beer!
I'll be thinking of you and trying to find Appie at PJ20. Leaving tomorrow morning, early.

dude i cannot imagine all you're going through. if it counts for something, it seems you are handling everything about as well as one could possibly handle it. i never know what to say to people going through what you're going through......keep your head up man.
you watching the webcast tonight? the audio is actually decent. might cheer you up

I couldn't get in to post earlier.
I must tell you, you are one very special person to have the resolve you did to make those tough choices. You were able to stay positive and look at your life in the future. All your decisions were based on quality & quantity of life. It can be a very difficult decision to think so far ahead when there are times of trouble, and trust how it will go. That is amazing to me.
You are a hero. You are helping so many, some who may never get to post here, but will see that your strength determined how you survived, and how you will now thrive. You will have sad days for what could have been, then...one day...those will be outnumbered by good days again.
you've inspired me, Rob. I dread my test/procedure on 9/9 but I'm doing it. I should have had it nearly two yrs ago due to my age. Then I read your thread :( Hang in there...

I was trying to respond last night but the site wouldn't let me log in. :problem:
My heart just goes out to you and Codie.
What incredibly tough situation you've faced. I can't imagine the decisions you've had to make.
It all seems so fucking unfair!
I don't know about you needing to buck up. Maybe cry and grieve.
I just wish there was something I could do to help. I hope you can take encouragement from all the people who care about you.
I have faith that you'll find the way to get yourself through this. If it has to be one day at a time, or one hour, or one minute, I believe you'll find the way.
Back home from a completely AMAZING weekend and my first stop on the boards is here...
Just want to say I was happy to meet Dave (Given to...) and his wife Michelle, among a handful of others who are regulars on this thread Sorry to have missed dcfaithful Dave and Halifax2TheMax (but I will see him in Canada).
Despite arrriving at the preparty late and being in a bit of a sour mood, I did manage to sell a handful of bracelets over the course of the weekend (one was to a girl in the bathroom who noticed mine and told me she read the thread--you should have seen how happy she was when I pulled out the ring of bracelets i had smuggled into the venue in my tote bag )
You were on many minds this weekend Rob, including mine. I hope you are having a better day. Just don't be hard on yourself. Allow yourself to be angry and upset....to grieve the life you had before. This could never be an easy change to embrace for anyone--and though I cant even fathom the challenges and changes you have faced since your diagnosis, I DO know that you are one amazing person and with your attitude and spirit, one day this "new reality" will be much easier to accept.
You're still here
You can say " IMALIVE"

Rob, you really are in our hearts and minds. Like others have said, its hard for us to imagine what you are going through, and how we would respond to the same. One thing is certain though, and that is that you have given each of us some inner strength that we might need in the future for ourselves or others around us. Your fighting spirit has not been lost on any of us here and grows exponentially.
