    Seriously! Gracie herself is a bad ass. Put both of you together on a neighborhood stroll and people will be locking their doors!

    On a side note, I used to work at a boarding facility and standard poodles are fantastic dogs. They're loyal and very intelligent breeds.

    Well, I've been home for a week. I won't tell you it's been all peaches and cream. A colostomy is a BIG adjustment, both physically and mentally. I think the mental park is the worst. Anyway, I was pretty down when I first got home but my attitude has improved and I'm moving forward.

    Not really a lot to report...I'm still sore from the surgery but today may be the first day I don't take even one pain pill (we'll see). My abdomen is a little sore but what's really sore is my butt. I can't sit on a hard chair or drive, so I've been logging a lot of recliner time.

    I just need to figure out this damn bag and I'll be OK. I mean, it's weird and all, but what is really the big deal? At least the cancer is gone. I see my surgeon on Wednesday...we'll see what he has to say. Maybe he'll pull the stitches in my butt....that's going to be ticklish :shock: ! I think I'm healing OK...hopefully, the surgeon will concur.

    P.S. The Giants obviously care nothing about my mental well being! :(

    Hey Rob!

    As I get ready to leave tomorrow for my mini Canadian tour, I keep thinking about how you're doing and sending you positive Chi. By reading your last three posts, it seems to me you are doing remarkably well for what you've been through and will have to contend with. But I know you'll pull through and manage. Even if the Giants currently suck. Like my Red Sox. Sucking. However, like you, I've seen them win a World Series in my life time. Something I once thought impossible. Hang in there, try not to let it get you down and know there are a hell of a lot of peeps pulling for you!

    Looking forward to meeting some folks at the pre-parties in Toronto, Ottawa and Hamilton (Shimmymommy, I'm buying you a beer!).

    I'll be thinking of you as I jam out Rob and I really hope you make it to Vancouver, ther's nothing like a Pearl Jam show to lift your spirits and chase your troubles away.

    I have been saying HAD when people ask about my STP bracelet since you had the surgery. I do have hope. ;)

    I find myself seeing people with various disabilities and thinking "would I rather be them?" probably not a healthy activity, but what can I say? sometimes, my new reality seems very sucky; other times I think "not REALLY that big of a deal." you guys, my wife, my dog and my friends continue to aid my recovery :mrgreen:

    The week you were having surgery, I was leading a 4-day training for people who will teach diabetes self-management workshops. I wore my STP bracelet and told them about you. Yesterday, I had a meeting with one of them. The FIRST thing she asked me was "How did your friend's surgery go?" Working in a hospital, she sees plenty of things, but she was most impressed with your attitude and sense of humor and told me that it will get you through.

    I gotta say, it impresses me too, along with all the love from people on this board. I'm glad you're part of this place. :D

    If I didn't tell you...I LOVE that you have such a positive attitude in this whole thing. It's truly been an inspiration to me.

    Rob,

    I just made it to Ottawa after rocking my ass off for both Toronto shows. I have to tell you that I was thinking about you and how you're going to Vancouver and all I could think is that you're going to rock your ass off and forget about everythig you've been dealing with. Pearl Jam has been on fire and are in rare form. I admire that you're going and I just know you'll be smiling. I also know that your positive list will grow longer with time and the negatives list will shorten. And who knows, maybe someday looking back it'll all be a plus. Hard to imagine now I'm sure.

    Keep your head up, good luck with the doctor's visit and know I'll be sending positive Chi your way tomorrow.
