not that this will change much but WOO-HOO!!!!
David Stern has date for retirement
    Updated: October 25, 2012, 1:40 PM ET

NBA commissioner David Stern will announce late Thursday that he is retiring on Feb. 1, 2014, multiple sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The elevation of Adam Silver, Stern's deputy, to commissioner was unanimously approved Thursday by the NBA Board of Governors, the sources said.

Stern, 70, has been the NBA's commissioner since Feb. 1, 1984. Last December, at the time a new collective bargaining agreement was announced, he predicted it would be the final labor deal before he steps down.

"This is a 10-year (labor) deal, with a re-opener at six," Stern said at the time, explaining that either the owners or the players union can opt out after six seasons. "I'm not planning to be here certainly for the 10 and probably not the six."

Stern's first work for the league came in 1966 as outside counsel. As commissioner, he has guided the league through the eras of Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan, achieving dramatic new heights of popularity. For many NBA fans, he is the only commissioner they have known.

Normally I would think Kevin Martin was a good pick up, but he's been pretty injury prone lately.

actually ... i think it's a great trade for the thunder ... they already signed durant, westbrook and ibaka to long term deals ... harden wanted max money ... they got 2 first rounders which are always valuable ...

I agree with this. OKC couldn't maintain all 4 of them, and they managed to sign the three that will help them the most in the long run. The trio of KD, Westbrook, and Ibaka will be a strong one for a while, considering they all have a ton of room to grow as players and will do so together.

agreed. couple of first rounders, a mid level first round pick from this year, and martin. seems liked the thunder fleeced houston....which isn't suprsing since houston has been trying everything to land a star for the past year...not that i would call harden a star

Houston just doesn't seem afraid to make trades in the name of hope. Harden is a proven player, but can he carry a team? Harden and Lin... something seems missing there. They'll be an interesting team to watch for sure.

Yeah, you've gotta feel good about getting rid of Asik and clearing space.

    Now, to amnesty Boozer....

I had no problem with Asik, he is what he is. A solid defender that can block shots and rebound. Just don't ask him to do anything else, and don't over pay him.

I'd rather get rid of stacey king. even his nick names are getting stale. He used to call asik the turkish hammer...and the other night, i forget who it was, but he called somebody else the ____ hammer. :fp:

I know no one cares so this is the only fantasy post I'll make this year. 10 team league, have to start 7, 12 man roster. Here's my squad...I had third pick (which I consider the worst spot in draft -- don't get either of the big two and there's not much diff from 3 and 10).

    Westbrook
Harden (maybe a reach but I think he blows up on new squad)
    Marc Gasol
Bosh (my least favorite pick I made)
    Jrue Holiday
Dirk (I don't mind taking injured guys...if he ends up healthy come xmas I think I have a good shot to repeat)
Gerald Wallace (don't love this pick either)
    Nic Batum
    Brook Lopez (steal here)
    Collison
Favors (who sixers should have taken over evan turder)
    Big Baby

Decent draft. Missed on a few picks, but if things go right I will be there in the end.
