Who the f*%# allocated 10C seats?

  • Everytime I have looked in front of me at an EV show, I have seen the same faces getting the pick of the seats in the front half of the venue. There is no way in hell these allocations are random.

There's an element of this 10 Club fraternity in OZ that seems particularly clicky, it's left a bad taste in my mouth keep watching the same people soaking up the spoils, while the rest of us carry the dregs.

My belief is that allocations here in OZ have been manipulated by an 'inside job', allowing the 'precious few' to continually benefit.

I thought being part of a club meant that everyone is treated equally. That's not my experience having been witness to the 'allocations' sham, and spending time in the same social space as 'fellow club members'.

PP92. Interesting thoughts. I'd be amazed though if 10C would leave themselves open to an 'inside job'. I can see your frustration though as I've noticed myself with regard to the seating arrangements. I doubt there is anything sinister though. At least I hope not. Thats just not cricket.

Brisbane did not seem random, was seniority with 10c there it seemed, especially with the front rows. But they had seats all over the venue as well.
I was not in Canberra, but was in Newcastle, and it was random, 10c seats all over the venue, 100xxx in the lounge, 400xxx a few rows back. From what i heard, it was the same in Canberra, low numbers with seats worse than high numbers.
To say this is an inside job, you must be kidding yourself.

You do have to remember that there is probably no more than 10% allocation to the 10c. Last night, that would mean 80 pairs of tickets, 160 seats. Plenty of good seats were available online during the online public sales. People buy lots of tickets, groups of friends travel to these shows together. Friendships are built over tours, and with that comes helping out to get good seats for all.

This is a fan club, this is a community, so try and involve yourself in it, not whinge and complain. Who knows, you might end up meeting some great people, who in the future can help out with tickets, when the 10c sale goes to shit, or the scalpers buy all the ticketbastard allocation.

The brisbane ten club tix situation did sound sus, but as for the rest it sounds legit with people being everywhere and random. but we haven't had another city with multiple dates again yet, so we'll have to see what the spread is like over the 3 nights in syd, and the other multi show cities.

I can understand disappointment with dress circle tickets, but we were never guaranteed the best seats. In fact, it's been discussed numerous times prior to these shows. The tickets were always going to be random.
    Come to send, not condescend...
  • I went to Brisbane Saturday night and 10c number 188xxx got me 3rd row dead centre. Guy next to us was similar number and was in the same row on the Thursday - definite enevlope stuffing issues there, more than likely on behalf of qpac.

Didn't go o Canberra but last night in Newcastle was 7 rows back in the dress circle. Great view and different aspect. Randomly assigned to my 10c number.

I am more than ok with this. The 10c were up front aboutthe random allocation of seats in the notifications. I remember buying tickets for friends for the newy show and getting front row in the circle. At the time I said "I'll probably be behind you..." but I was never under the illusion that it was a guarenteed awesome seat. It was just a guaranteed seat and I was happy to roll those dice cause the public onsale scared me...!

Turns out i got Sydney to tickets on Saturday and Sunday through public onsale and they are not the greatest, but I'm there! I thank you 10c and I will roll the dice with you anytime...!

    Enjoy the shows friends.
  • I was pretty cut up about missing 10C seats to both Melbourne shows but from the sounds of it my general pre-sale tickets aren't really going to be any worse.
  • Thanks for continuing the discussion guys, I appreciate the comments and feedback. I just feel however that you are missing my point. I knew when I purchased my tickets that allocation was supposed to be random, I had no problem with that. The issue I have however is the question as to why, everytime I look toward the front of the venue, I see the same 10 club members sitting in the better seats?? Why has there not been one occassion where I have looked back to see any of them sitting behind me, rather than in prime locale with that constant look of glee.

In trying my best to tune into the voice of EV, I cannot help but scout the room and smell a rat!

my friend and i are both 10c memebers

    have been for years

    we have a deal

we both buy tickets when they go on sale
we get to the venue on the day
work out whos got better seats (usually me cause ive been member slightly longer)

then give the other set to friends

10 years weve been doing this
and hopefully we will do it for another 10 more

You have to remember that these people aren't necessarily using their 10c tix. They'll buy normal tix, share 10c tix with other members to increase their chances of a great spot. I didn't use my 10c tix at all in Brisbane, had much better ones from qtix every night. In the 10 shows I saw in 06 I only used them once... by the time each gig came around I had upgraded to much better tickets and sold on my 10c.

This is the reason pink pop 92 sees the same peeps in front of them at the shows. A lot of members do it this way, there is nothing sinister, or no rat to be smelt. People just buy 10c tix and public sale and what ever works out better is what they use, the others go to other people. Some friends of mine who already had 10c tix bought tix from qtix on the Thursday, the day of the show, in the 4th row, as well as their ten club tix, and they were all shared round amongst friends. I was lucky enough to end up with one of the 4th row seats, when I wasn't even going to the show til the day of the show when they rang and said they had some spares.

Yes, the tickets in brissy were a huge stuff up.... but as for the rest of your post, it sounds as if you're upset by the fact that certain members have formed extremely close friendships over multiple tours, who then go out of their way to help those same friends with not only tickets but accommodation, travel, merch, you name it..... and this is somehow a negative thing in your eyes...???

I for one won't be buying 10c tickets again. Hated not knowing where I was sitting beforehand...and here is the rest of my whinge...

    1. Brisbane #1 and #2, missed out on 10c tickets and brought presale tickets...great...got to choose where I sat and happy with it..(to think I had been SOO disappointed on missing out on 10c tickets just makes me laugh now)

    2. Canberra...10c tickets...up the back with drunk idiots who kept calling out crap all night and singing the songs drunkedly at the top of their voices...if I had wanted to hear them sing and not eddie, I certainly wouldn't have paid $100 for it..(at least if you are surrounded by 10c members they know the words to the bloody songs) What was worse was knowing that Canberra had struggled to sell and I probably could have got better seats if I'd brought them independently.

    3. Newcastle...again I had 10c tickets, got row U, was so pissed off I promptly went to the ticket window, brought 2 tickets in row H and had a great night...except for the fact two blokes who had been drinking at the pub and who only remembered pearl jam from 'ten' days said they had heard he was in town an hour before and thought it was 'worth a look' and had rocked up to the ticket window and brought better tickets then a lot of 10c members had...I knew one lady who had been a member since 1992 and got tickets quite a few rows back then these walk-ins off the street...again...these guys were blind drunk and yelling out for ten songs...to add insult to injury there were also two spare tickets in front of us...and knowing that other 10c members were stuck up the back when good tickets were being released an hour before the show just shits me...I thought there may have been SOME benefits to being in the fan club

Just to mention...I don't want seats close to the front to get to see/meet eddie (like many it seems)...I just want to be able to HEAR and SEE the show from a decent position and without loudmouthed idiots who have no concept of a EDDIE VEDDER solo gig as opposed to a pearl jam concert.

The whole 10c ticket thing has left a bad taste in my mouth and reminded me why I have always hated being a part of any kind of group and why in future I will buy my tickets independently or even through ebay if needed. This time round 10c failed the majority of it's members I think. By the way, I was a member from way back and have attended many a concert as both a 10c member and non 10c member, so am not new to all this stuff.

Obviously the fan club has grown too big for it to really offer any benefits anymore.
I think that's about all I have to say. Hope those with 10c tickets enjoy the rest of the shows....just a word of advice for anyone wanting a decent seat...I would be checking with each venue on the day of the gig to see what they have going...don't rely on 10c, you will be disappointed.

Our ticket allocator who art in box office,
    hallowed be thy name.
    Thy tickets will come.
    Thy will be done
at the State Theatre tonight as it is in heaven.
Give us this day my front row seat,
and forgive us our requests for songs we know he won't play,
as we forgive those who backstage trespass without us,
and lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us to EV.

    Amen.
