Where did you guys get to with the 'Gone' discussions?

How about Chicago as a kind of compromise between Antwerp and the other versions mentioned? I liked Chicago, though not as much as Antwerp - but it seemed to be more popular than Antwerp and was a very good version I thought

    Fixed.

We've come to this, mostly :
we have come down to Albany vs. Chicago.
My vote right now would go with Chicago just on the basis of trying it and seeing how it fits. I love the version from Albany, but I can't get over the whole flow issue.

I'll second (third) that. I'm not sure it'll solve the flow issue though, but it might be worth giving it a try in Version 2 and see how it sounds.

Project #9 - "Break the Sky: Pearl Jam Live" **Version 2**

    Track List:

Life Wasted - Melbourne, Australia (November 13, 2006)
World Wide Suicide - Vitoria, Spain (September 2, 2006)
Comatose - Auburn Hills, Michigan (May 22, 2006)
Severed Hand - Antwerp, Belgium (August 30, 2006)
Marker In The Sand - Paris, France (September 11, 2006)
    Parachutes - Portland, Oregon (July 20, 2006)
Unemployable - San Francisco, California (July 15, 2006)
Big Wave - San Diego, California (July 7, 2006)
    Gone
Wasted Reprise - Toronto, Ontario (May 10, 2006)
Army Reserve - Sydney, Australia (November 8, 2006)
Come Back - Santa Barbara, California (July 13, 2006)
Inside Job - Lisbon, Portugal (September 4, 2006)
Masters of War - Washington DC (May 30, 2006)
Throw Your Hatred Down - Adelaide, Australia (November 22, 2006)
I Believe In Miracles - Marseille, France (September 9, 2006)
All Along the Watchtower - San Francisco, California (July 18, 2006)

Do we want to try those suggestions as well :

Someone asked for a more intense Life Wasted.

Can't find many, but the only one which I felt was as good a version as Melbourne, was Chicago 15/05.

If chosen, this would free up Severed Hand from Melbourne 13/11 which delivers everything that Antwerp had, but doesn't cut off abruptly.

    So my vote...
    Life Wasted - Chicago 1
    Severed Hand - Melbourne 1
    Gone - Chicago 2

Everything else in place and good to go?

I was fine with Life Wasted and Severed Hand from version 1, but haven't had the chance to listen to those other versions yet, so I don't know. Could be worth trying too ?

Gone from Chicago would probably still have that flow issue. I still think Brisbane is a viable option 8-)

Don't I know you from the poetry forum? You're the one who throws around hostility - and in one case some cryptic abuse which I strongly believe was actually some very nasty racism. Nobody else seemed to pick up on your racism, but let me tell you - I noticed it.

So now you think it's time to come and be hostile out on the Porch. Why don't you get a life - go and find a good book to read if you don't like the forum and any of the people in it.

    Well put Tremors.

Maybe the first thing that "This place is full of overweight jobless geeks" should read is the posting guidelines. Especially rule #1:

How are we going to come to a decision on Gone? We could go round and round forever and not reach an agreement! I'm happy to take more of a back seat on this decision - I haven't made a massive input to the project so far. So if others have strong views I don't want to be the one to be a stick in the mud. My personal preferences of the versions discussed so far have been Antwerp and Chicago - but I'd be happy with a different choice from the people who have done most of the work this time

I ignored him first time around, but him coming back here, and looking at some of his other posts, it looks like he is on a bit of a mini mission to disrupt the Porch at the moment - starting with when he changed his username to the current one.

Can't remember now, but I noticed that the hostile guy had changed his name to 'this place is full of overweight geeks' and started to post on the Porch, that's all. Anyway, if he carries on, hopefully the Mods will sort him out. I wonder if he has any suggestions for 'Gone' though.... he might have the breakthrough we need! ;)

    :-P

It looks pretty good to me! I think we have made very good progress with this one, and it has been excellent having some strong additional input from the guys who have contributed to this thread. I think this is going to end up one of our best sounding ones.

I guess when we hear it through, there might be one or two places where the flow is still a problem - and if too noticeable we can address those for the final version.
