My opinion.......I feel sorry for people that bought the deluxe edition.

Don't. I'm excited as all hell.

    +1
  • Amazingly, I think this thread is more contentious than the Phillies thread!

I feel sorry for myself for buying the deluxe version of KoL.

Really Dewie? Do you also think In Through The Out Door Is the best Zeppelin record?

InTOD is basically a Plant & JPJ record. Page was too addicted to heroin to really contribute. Whether you think it's really great probably depends on how you feel about the 10 minutes of Carouselambra. I could see loving or hating it. I could kind of take it or leave it. I'd put InTOD towards the bottom of Led Zep records, but it's still pretty great.

I love South Bound Saurez, Fool in the Rain & Hot Dog but I could leave the rest to be honest. I can see what you mean with Carouselambra.
  • Didn't mean to change the subject  . Led Zep 3 for me. You can't beat Since I've been loving You.

It's either 3 or physical grafiti for me.

My favourite Radiohead (to keep on topic ;) ) is prob OK Computer followed by In Rainbows.
  • 1.OK Computer 2.Amnesiac 3.In Rainbows 4.Hail To The Thief 5.Kid A 6.The Bends 88.Pablo Honey I love all of these albums with the exception of Pablo Honey. I love the Kid A songs live but like other studio albums better. Tons of people trashed Hail To The Thief when it came out, but it's a great record. Where I End And You Begin is a top 5 Radiohead song to me.

This is the epitome of a rock & roll blues song, and easily a top 5 Zep song for me.

Totally agree. It took me a little while to get used to some songs like Gloaming & Punchup, etc. But Where I End... (and Sail to the Moon & There There) are Radiohead at their finest. Oh yeah, Mixamatosis :!: Wow.

I tend to think that this album could've been a couple songs shorter, but then when I listen I can't figure out which songs they should've chopped off. It's kind of funny. There is just that something about that album that doesn't quite work perfectly (unlike, say OKC). It's still damn good.

  • This thread is too much. I think The King Of Limbs will grow on you like HTTT Johnny. It gets better with each listen. There's always tons of layers. People get sick of the word relevance but look at this thread. Whether you love or hate the album you will still feel the need to keep listening. That's the beauty of this band. I have a feeling 73% of the haters will come around to it ;) . They are just that fuckin good.

ok so... been playing it for the past 3 hours nonstop. sounds like radiohead to me. no big departures from what theyve done in the past imo. some of it sounds familiar to me. and i will continue to play it nonstop til i get sick of it... i wont hold my breath on that though. im finding it mellow and for me atm thats a good thing.
having said that i will say i am still besotted with in rainbows.... not that im comparing the two. 8-)

I can't force myself to listen to something again that I found totally unlistenable the first few times. There is not one track that I like. Not one. And I'm not being deliberately controversial.
It's gonna be a glorious day...

Let me say that I came late to the radiohead party. Never really cared for the electronic beats or Yorke's wailing.
But in rainbows blew me away and when I finally went to see them live, I "got" it. Tremendous live band.

So far, there are a couple of decent tunes on the new one, but I am missing the tempo, instrumentation and textural layers that made in rainbows such a great record. It does sound like a Yorke solo record.

But I suppose the ultimate judgment will come when I hear the songs live. Anyway, its nice to have some new music to listen to.
  • Listen to this and In Rainbows back to back, two of the best albums by any band in a long, long time!

    Well done Radiohead.

Radiohead is just way beyond my simple comprehension level. I just am not that excited about this album and i don't get the genius of it.

So many other bands have made such better atmospheric albums then this.

I feel like I should get paid to listen to this album - it's much too much work for listening to music. It may have, sort of, kinda a little, couple songs grown onto some distant part of my brain. (nice sentence there, huh? 570 SAT Verbal mothafuckas! )

very good point... A few people on here have said we need to listen 'harder' to this album.. that us mere mortals cannot 'comprehend' such an album... but you know, sometimes i want music to be almost primitive in its simplicity.. I want to sink a couple of beers, put on Arcade Fire's Month of May and rock the fuck out for 3 or 4 minutes... what I don't want to do is sit and listen to music that I need to 'think' too hard about... this is why we all hated geometry at school remember? I don't want to investigate an album that has more layers than an Eskimo sleepover... sometimes i listen to Sigur Ros, Bon Iver and Radiohead because it 'moves' me... the music is almost pulchritudinous (thought i'd throw in a big word for the more cerebral of those who dismissed our opinions ;) )

and sometimes i want to listen to Spin The Black Circle.

what i don't want to listen to is people saying that because I find this album to be unfavourable, that I am some kind of caveman or Luddite... I'm not... just as I don't listen to those people who say that I should watch Andy Warhol's sleep because its art... its not... its fuckwits being filmed sleeping for an even bigger fuckwit.

now that was a critical appraisal if i ever heard one. ;)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
