why not? they are both huge bands, FF are way bigger, but I wouldn't guess they'd have a huge vinyl fan base like PJ does.

    I wouldn't say way bigger.

FF have way more mainstream appeal, for good or bad. Pearl Jam couldn't sell out Wembley as fast as FF did, if at all.

FF do write more pop songs. But I think PJ can.

I'd give anything for it to be 2 years ago right now!! First Foos show, Verizon Center, DC. Such a special show to me because I was in a very dark and scary place and I can pinpoint that Foos show as the beginning of me seeing brighter things. Amazing how a show can do that. Thankful for the Foos today :D

Can't wait for their new album to come out this year. Going the be tough to follow up Wasting Light, but i've got faith. Foo's and new Black Keys are my most anticipated this year.

Yeah, I will probably avoid that festival until I hear that they can accommodate the number of tickets sold. I hear last year was a mess getting in, with people stuck in traffic for a ungodly amount of time.

Good news is that the Foos are touring. Hopefully there is an alternative to paying crazy festival prices to see them.

I think this year's lineup is better than last year, and I camped last year so I didn;t have traffic problems. Yes there was way too many people last year, but everyone has complained to management enough that they expanded the festival area and added another entrance, so we should be good this year. Already got my cheap presale ticket, so I am pumped!

Looks like Butch Vig is producing again. Always a good sign.

    http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/foo-fighters-new-album-halfway-done-says-butch-vig-20140417

Foo Fighters' New Album 'Halfway Done,' Says Butch Vig
Producer teases 'different sound' and says band is experimenting with array of recording techniques

The new Foo Fighters album is "almost halfway done," producer Butch Vig said in a new interview with Kerrang (via NME). Vig said the group is experimenting with a variety of recording techniques, noting the similarities to the band's 2011 efforts, Wasting Light, which Vig also produced and was recorded in frontman Dave Grohl's garage.

"We've been recording at some different locations, but we're almost halfway done with the recording and it's going well," Vig said. "It sounds different — we've thrown a few things into the mix, in the recording process, that are going to give the record a different sound and a different feel. It's been a challenge, but it's also been exciting."

The producer's assessment is quite in line with Grohl's own description of the album, which he described to Rolling Stone last year as "badass. We’re doing something that nobody knows about, it's fucking rad. We begin recording soon, but we're doing it in a way that no one’s done before and we're writing the album in a way that I don't think has been done before."

While Grohl announced that Foo Fighters would be going on hiatus back in 2012, the band quickly returned to action at the end of last year with a handful of shows in Mexico (plus one in a Los Angeles pizza place). The band started out 2014 in style, hitting New York City for a special Super Bowl weekend show, and they're currently scheduled to play the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware on June 20th.

Amidst working on the new Foo Fighters record, Grohl and former bandmate Krist Novoselic recently corralled a bunch of friends to mark Nirvana's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Along with a performance at the ceremony that found the band fronted by Lorde, Joan Jett, Kim Gordon and St. Vincent, Nirvana also hosted an afterparty at the small Brooklyn venue Saint Vitus, where they played a 19-song set with guest singers Jett, Gordon, St. Vincent, Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis and Deer Tick's John McCauley.
