Saw the Sound City Players last night in Hollywood. What a gig! Over 3 hours long with all of the different artists. I think my personal highlight was seeing John Fogerty rocking all the Creedence classics with the Foo Fighters. Loved Alain Johannes playing QOTSA's "Hangin Tree" with Dave on bass. Also really liked Dave playing drums with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. So cool and just a really great night overall. You could tell Dave was loving every minute of it.

Sound City was great! Dave Grohl is the man. Simple as that. Can't wait to get the soundtrack when it comes out. I feel like checking out albums that were recorded there now.

Sound City was a pretty awesome documentary. So many times I caught myself rocking out and realizing I had the biggest shit-eating grin on. Just pure happiness and for the love of music. Dave Grohl is truly the coolest most down to earth guys, don't know when he sleeps.

    Go see it!

They say Dave is the nicest guy in rock and roll and after last night, I can confirm that! Saw him host a Sound City screening with a Q&A session at the end. First, Sound City was a really awesome film, thoroughly enjoyed it! If you even remotely like music (which means you all), you should see it, end of story! The end comes, and Dave hung around for a tiny bit to sign and take pictures. Nervously went up to Dave to say hi. I told him that I saw the Foos at Globalfest (he asked me how i liked it, but don't think i even answered that, I was so flustered to be talking to a hero of mine lol). Told him how when they played These Days it was so meaningful to me, as 2 weeks before the show my dad passed. I said 'thank you so much' and that 'i wish there were words bigger than thank you, seriously'. He put his hand on my shoulder and told me he was sorry, and then gave me a hug. I asked him to sign and he nicely did. Then asked for a picture, and when I went to take one was fumbling with my phone cuz I was pretty much shaking. Dave goes 'here, give me that, watch this' and proceeds to take a selfie of us! Ahhh! He was even nice enough to make a 4 second 'hello' video for one of my best friends who is a huge fan! Thanked him again, and went on my way! What a nice, genuine, incredible badass of a dude! This pretty much made my year! When you finally meet a hero and see that they're just as nice and awesome as you imagined them to be- really REALLY cool stuff. :D

Awww...Nice! Dave is really a cool guy, so are the rest of the Foos. The Sound City Players in L.A. was a super awesome night, and Dave was having so much fun. Glad to hear he stuck around at the screening for pics and stuff-that is so very cool. Congrats on the pic and video too. My hand would have been shaking too--I'm a total dork. :D

Dave Grohl's 'brain is working overtime' planning new Foo Fighters record
Taylor Hawkins offers insight into follow up to 2011's 'Wasting Light'

Drummer Taylor Hawkins has offered an update on the new Foo Fighters album, revealing that Dave Grohl is "working overtime" on ideas for new material.

Drummer Hawkins revealed to Billboard that work on the follow-up to the band's 2011 album 'Wasting Light' has begun, and also hinted that it could be a concept album.

"We're getting started," Hawkins told the US publication. "We're getting our ideas together. Dave has his brain working overtime, like usual, and he's got a lot of great ideas, both musically and conceptually, none that I can speak of at this moment, but it's gonna be great. It's gonna be cool."

Hawkins also suggested that he believes Foo Fighters have not yet made their definitive album. "You always want every one of them to be the best one you've ever done, and you always think you haven't done your best one. Although some people may feel we have, I still think we haven't written our 'Hotel California' or our 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or whatever. Every time you start a record, you have to be, like, ready to fuckin' kill yourself or it's not gonna be any good."

Dave Grohl previously claimed that the next Foo Fighters album will "not be a conventional record". The frontman said that he is working on the record but had no ideas as to when the album will be finished. "Well, we're just writing right now," he said. "When we start working on a record, what I've found is we work best at our own pace, and sometimes it happens quickly and sometimes it takes a while."

Dave Grohl has most recently been focused on his documentary Sound City and its subsequent soundtrack, in which he collaborates with musicians including Steve Nicks, Trent Reznor and Paul McCartney. Speaking in London following a Sound City Players gig in February, Grohl claimed he was ready to start working on Foo Fighters material immediately.

Interesting. Concept album and Foo Fighters are not two things I generally would put together but they have covered the straight rock thing pretty well so I am excited to hear this.
Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.
  • They have a difficult album to follow up - Wasting Light was immense. A conceptual themed record sounds interesting.
