Straight White Man can't be the bad guy forever.

    I beg to differ.

At La Casa de Unlost Dogs, it's a rule of the house that the Straight White Man will always be the bad guy and thus, takes the blame for everything.

I wouldn't have a problem if the Aussie flag was flying as well, you don't take the countries flag down and fly another flag like that.

I know what you are saying... i.e. if they had removed the Aboriginal flag there would have been a massive outcry.

world has gone politically correct crazy...

I must admit i get annoyed by things like MOBO awards, Black Actors Awards, gay pride marches and all that shit... not because they are having them, i couldnt care a jot... but i get annoyed that if i wanted a White Actors awards or a Heterosexual Pride March i'd get absolutely damned for it... and thats a shame and its wrong.

the worst one I can think of is the time i looked in to joining the Fire Service and on the application form it said "we especially welcome applications from people of Asian or Black ethnicity"

or words to that effect... and again i think thats just wrong. it should just read "we especially welcome applications"

I don't have a problem with them (contrary to popular belief here that I am a big homophobe) but I have a problem with them always ramming it down everyone's throats that they are gay, now they want their own country it seems.....
I reckon even other gays would be embarrassed by these antics.

    From the article:
Cr Powning questioned why the flag issue was only raised when the council honoured the gay, lesbian, bisexual, intersex and transgender communities.

“It makes me wonder why people raise the issue at this time because we replace the Australian flag on United Nations Day, Sorry Day and Naidoc (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week,'' she said.
She said the council was following its own protocol on the issue, which allowed the Australian flag to be taken down in exceptional circumstances.

“The protocol states that the Australian flag will be flown from the highest pole on every day of the year from all of our town halls, with the exception of a number of events including … pride march.”

And mind you, not one mention of the gays wanting their own country, I think we can all agree that that statement was a bit ridiculous. ;)

Anyhoots, I see nothing wrong with flying the gay pride flag, it's not like this is a permanent change.

I'd say it's just as bad to label people as "looney extreme leftists" for having a differing opinion. :P

I wasn't saying that. I say those who label someone a homophobe or racist for not sharing their PC views are looney extreme leftists.

  • I think for some it is a new identity, and therefore they embrace every aspect of that identity. When I was at University there was a guy on my course who showed no signs of being gay or camp at all for the first year, then when he came back after the summer break he announced he was gay and went into full on queen mode. His voice had suddenly become very camp, the kind of language he used - it was quite a surprise to be honest.

I suppose the need to define their sexuality so overtly might come from the fact that the world is still quite homophobic. Therefore some may see it that they can either be discreet, choosing to ignore the comments made around them and live a life of shame, or they can fully embrace the gay community and make it perfectly clear that they are gay and proud of it.

It's a bit like racism really. Very few white people will ever truly experience the prejudice that people of colour will. Sure we can empathise to an extent, but we're not likely to ever experience it at quite the same level.

I don't think I could cope with the pain of getting accepted to a university or hired at a job I was unqualified for simply because of the way I look. Just another way the man is holding "people of color" down.
I knew it all along, see?

I'd much rather have someone plaster their car with stickers of pride for who they are then in stickers of hate and intolerance. It is a lot easier to explain to a kid that someone is gay and proud, as opposed to trying to explain a sticker like "God hates Fags" or some sick shit like that.

I have a dear friend who is G-G-G-Gay. He grew up in small town, intolerant America and was beat up, stuffed in trash cans, physically and verbally assaulted from the time he was a small child. He survived it all and now flaunts the fuck out of how gay he is. And I think it is spectacular. I'm all for G-G-G-Gay. 8-)
    Well done.
