I love Canada for many reasons! So vast and large with a small population! So nice, if I liked cold weather I would think of moving there. You are blessed and fortunate to have a small population with so many vast resources. You have less people than our largest metro area! As far as culture, you cannot even begin to compare the two countries for many obvious reasons.

I say when we took God out of our classrooms, our culture began to change for the worse. Progressives and acid! Thats where it all went bad!

I was in Toronto for PJ 20 on 9/11/11 and it was awesome! However, the city's people were almost rioting in the streets between 2-3 am as if they were ready to kill people or the police! It was a shame and I would be embarrassed if I hosted anyone there to my home city and it acted like that. I couldnt beleive the atmoshphere, as if they were all entitled and they had something to prove. I guess they feel like MEN when in large numbers.

USA does have 320 million people which is about 11 times that of Canada. We had about 10,000 murders last year. I wonder if Canada had 800 or so?

So lack of religion is the cause? Please explain...

Also, even if you look per capita figures, America is streets ahead in terms of death by firearms, care to explain that one to a godless heathen like myself?

Well it looks like Canada has about 1/11th of the crime that the USA does, so how could you or anyone else from Canada, criticize the USA? Also do you have gun ownership? if not, how can you have murders?

Geez man. Get out from your cave.

    2010 data:
    Canada 170 shooting homicides.
    USA 8,775 shooting homicides.
    * This is actually 1.9% of the crime the USA does... not 1/11th (9%).

Taking into account the differing population numbers... we see the following homicide by firearm rate:
Canada with a rate of 0.51 per 100,000 people.
US with a rate of 2.97 per 100,000 people.

"Since the introduction of stricter gun laws in 1991, there has been a 65 per cent reduction in homicides by long guns, Statistics Canada data shows. The reduction in homicides involving any type of firearm was 37 per cent."

Hmmmm. Interesting. Hmmmm. Hey... the best news? Our government hasn't gone all tyrannical and such. Go figure.

  • And yes... we have gun ownership. Just not bazookas, rocket launchers, or assault rifles.

    Oh yeah... no tanks either.

Well, I'm not anti-gun per se (not gonna recount my parameters of "per se" anymore either). Just wanted to say that our local news ran an update on the gun buy-back program - 1,100 turned in at one location alone today. This is good. People who can't handle, or don't need or want them - among others - shouldn't have them around.

    Win-win.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
