shooting after shooting
murder after murder
how many times a year
does someone walk into a gun store (or walmart)
buy guns
and we get front page news?
how many children, playing with daddy's gun
die from a bullet exploding through their skull and brain?
how do we allow this to continue?
is the 9 year old girl who was shot in tuscon saturday dead solely because guns are legal?
are we to be told, again, "guns don't kill people"?
do gun lovers change their views when they or their family are affected (shot)?
or do they just chalk it up to "that person should not have been allowed to own a gun"?
i hope congresswoman giffords and the other critically wounded victims all recover, but
right now, she has had a part of her skull placed in her abdomen until the swelling goes down
and i wonder if her strong support of gun rights will change
because the only thing any of the media is talking about is "the shooter must be crazy"
and not a thing about the gun and the bullets
same as it ever was

The difference is, hand guns are designed to kill people, kitchen knives, cars, baseball bats, are designed to serve other purposes.

Many objects are capable of causing fatal wounds
Heck, your hands are capable of that
But there is only one that I can think of that is designed specifically for critically wounding or killing
    The Gun...
While I know that any deadly weapon in the hands of a stressed or unstable person
Can be easily transformed into a killing machine
I still think that access to guns legal or otherwise, being what it is in this country
Plays a huge part in the ease with which a person is able to take another's life
Guns allow for that act to be less intimate than say, strangling or stabbing
Thus making it much easier to kill with a gun, or from a distance
Than with a knife, from close in
(yes i know how the congresswoman was shot, but others were shot, after the fact, as like, a side note, as in what the hell, i already shot her, why not just go for it. ..its a gun that makes all that "collateral damage" possible.)
    Just my opinion
    peace,

so are guns, and that does not matter anyway, just cause some fool kills with a gun dose not mean the good people should not own one "capital murder with a gun=death penalty"

Hmmmmmmmmmm let's see.... America gun violence Vs any other Industrialized country is a landslide in the wrong direction

But hey at least a bunch of hillbillies can go in the back of their trailerparks and shot cans with red white n blue bandanas while they pretend they are killing bad guys or they can join anti-government militias.

People with guns have small penis'

Aren't you the one who always claims that if people were allowed to carry guns things like the Arizona shooting wouldn't happen? Well? Arizona allows concealed weapons so how does that philosophy hold up today?

If somebody is going to kill someone they will do it regardless of weather there are guns or not. Some of you need to think logically instead of what your parties views are.

Yes and no. If this guy in the AZ case had a knife, there's a good chance many of the victims there would still be alive. Same applies to the Columbine shootings. If it was a knife or a bat, there would be much less victims, as it's easier to subdue someone with a knife than with a gun.

I think also it is the glorification of guns... Weak minds alike will band together with this notion that the use of guns makes you a 'gangsta' or something... As if being some gun-toting nut like Sarah Palin is anything to aspire to... I don't think anyone walks around with a letter opener and shouts 'thuglife' if ya know what i mean.

    I agree
    For the most part...

In my opinion, for what its worth
    These killers are cowards
who find it so much easier to kill
because they can hide behind a gun
Even if they get up close
who's going to mess with you when you're holding a gun to their head?
I'm much more likely to try to fight off a guy with a knife than a guy with a gun
It's much more likely that you'll be able to survive an attack with a knife or other weapon
Guns are too often automatically deadly
And they create fear in their victims
A fear much more powerful than if they came wielding a baseball bat or a butcher knife
Because, a gunshot is so awfully final
    Also,
Guns allow people to kill from afar
Without ever having to face their victims
That even the strongest pro-guns of you cannot deny.
    Cowards hide behind guns
    And cowards kill people
(Before you get all up in my face, I AM NOT calling all gun owners "cowards"
I'm calling people who kill other people with guns, "cowards")
    peace,
    jo

See this is why I have NO PROBLEM with how that uncle handled his nephew acting like he was a gang member. I'd rather see him give him a whipping than seeing that youngster running around spraying bullets all because he's in a gang.

I am a gun owner. I love them. I own the same kind of pistol as this jerk, and I have always thought those 30 round clips are absolutely absurd. I would say that they should be banned, but would that really stop anyone from finding them? It is a sad situation. I would suggest more expensive firearms but then only the rich would be able arm themselves. I would also suggest psychological profiling, but then we choose who is worthy to protect themselves depending on their perspective and world view. It's a slippery slope. Tragic as it is, life IS fragile. Something like 150,000 people die everyday. I like this article I read the other day about the mass deaths of animals lately and the news coverage they are getting. The author said we need to step back and look at the big picture. While we dwell on 5,000 birds that fell from the sky, there are thousands of species going extinct. While we fight about 6 people who have been senselessly murdered, there is genocide in Africa. Just rambling. :)
