Would love to see more information on the bootleg choices (assuming there are choices) and what the t-shirts look like.

First, I don't think that most members are in the club for the Tix. Almost all the shows outside of the U.S. are general admission and there are plenty of members, myself included, who have never even had the band play their country. I am here pretty much for the community here on the boards with people who know what it is like to love a band for most of their lives (I am 30 years old) and the chance to feel like a kid again getting excited over rumors of new music and possible tours.
Second, I like the idea of getting a T-shirt every year. Shipping and handling costs pretty much double the price if ordered regularly.
As for the free bootleg download, I already used mine. It is for any of the bootlegs in the goods section. Just stick in the code you get in the conformation e-mail and proceed to check out. If you want to download the show as an MP3, than it is free. If you want it as a FLAC it will give you $10 off.

Even though my membership was good until Dec 15 2011, I added another year of analog any way.
Still can't believe I met Mike Mccready at the Guggenheim and got a pic with him!!!!!

    2010: 9/7/10 - Bilbao

I really don't understand why this is such upsetting news.

Everything goes up in price. The Ten Club is now giving us a choice, based on personal preference
and if the increase is too much or you don't agree for whatever reason, then don't renew.

    It's seems pretty simple.

Agree 100%. I don't get it... First of all, I've never been shut out of a show I wanted to go to. I've always had a sneaky suspicion that some people just aren't quite sure how to give themselves the best chance to get tickets. Some have been tougher than others and some have taken more than two hours clicking, but $20 for a very-decent pre-sale chance (and basically a 100% chance for all non-major shows) and static number/seat along with a few minor yearly perks sounds very reasonable to me. As people have posted, the Bon Jovi prices are quite high. You get a bit more, but I have a coworker that spends $3,000 a show on a VIP package that isn't all that amazing. Prices have gone up for PJ tickets to between $70-$80 each and as far as I'm concerned that's so much better than they could be. Other acts that have been around for 20 years charge 3-4 times that just to be in the building. With 10c not only am I in the building but I'm usually better off than the Ticketmaster purchasers.

Frankly, I'm thankful the price of 10c hasn't had a mandatory increase for all. I find it hardly to believe that some people would prefer that to this option, basically only because they won't get a free 45, which certainly is very nice to get as late as it usually is. But does that define your PJ membership and experience? If it does I think you better question your motives. How is an option bad? Yes, I agree that the $20 package is now slightly less valuable. Slightly being the key word there. Everyone has no trouble writing off what the ARE getting from the yearly fee and concentrating on what is lost. Frankly, this is a bit immature.

Concerning Eddie's and PJ's wealth, they're 100% entitled to it. Not only that, they could be spoon-feeding you money-making propositions for the rest of their lives with no touring, no new music, etc and live very comfortably. Those who claim that this is about money should take a step back and realize that they have no idea what this is about. Not only that, it's not their responsibility to tell us. We pay for a service and they tell us what we get for that money, not how much of it goes to save turtles or the WM3. It's their money. As one wise person said at some point in this ridiculous thread, "Vote with your dollar."

I hear you but i Said For me the most important and only thing i look for is the chance at Tickets that is what got me into this Club way back in the begining the chance to get Tickets , and i do feel for you that the band hasn't played in your neck of the woods ...Maybe they will sometime

  • Ill stick with my original comment....

99% of the people here, are in this club, for the precious tickets........

    PERIOD!!!!

Well that, and to flip posters on the website, even though that is supposedly not allowed....

    hehehehehe

  • I've been a member too long, and membership is the only way I ever got tickets, so since I'm due to renew, I've taken the tier two and I'm not going to stress about it. I'll miss getting the mail ... I really liked the mail; but in the big scheme of things, I don't *really* need to acquire any more "things," so I'll just satisfy myself with access to the music. Ten Club really is a business, after all, and I'm sure that the people who decide on the analog option will ultimately be happy about it. It's nice to have choices.

    +1
agree, only been a member for a month or so (since November 2010)
vinyl doesn't matter to me, things like tshirts and that stuff, i don't care about them. I don't need a tshirt or a key ring or a sticker to prove that I love this band's music. Sure it's nice, and I have bought a tshirt, but it isn't something I'd miss if I didn't have it.

Regardless of what membership you choose, You'll still have the
    MUSIC
which is the mother to all of this, the most important thing of all.
Plus presale tickets to shows - I know some people are affected by it, but many people have been and by the looks and sounds of it have got amazing seats. Which is awesome. Better than a lot of the other bands out there.
Plus access to this community, to communicate and connect with fans all over the world - pretty cool.

I sympathize with people who like the vinyl and stuff, and who don't want to pay more. I really do and I'm all for people voicing their opinions, saying what they believe and standing up for something. We shouldn't just take things lying down, even if it is stuff from our favourite band. I get it.
But I just think people need to calm down, remember what it's all about. What Pearl Jam actually means to you.

    Music.

  • Goodbye to all, your seats will not improve with my departure as I was in the 400xxx. The music this band has put out has steadily declined and now the respect for the fans is on the decline as well.

$20 is not the issue. I wonder if PJ realizes that they fan club they so dearly love and talk of, is the one and only reason that some fans are not listening to the the music anymore.

It was fun for a while though.

  • I'm too damn lazy to read 18 pages of posts, so maybe someone already said this...

At the VERY least, I hope 10c doesn't go & put the analog membership t-shirt up for sale on the website, or anywhere else for that matter. PLEASE give ppl who are paying for the upgrade the peace of mind that this is an exclusive t-shirt, each year. If I see my cousin walking around in the same shirt, that she bought at Target just cause she "liked all the pretty colors," I might just have a fucking meltdown. And for fuck's sake, please tell me they will ask our sizes when we renew. If this is the only "upgrade" I'm getting in the "upgrade," I sure as hell wanna be able to wear it (if it ain't shit-ass ugly).

    OK, I've said my piece.

Happy New Year everyone...don't let the great divide begin. Be you digital or analog, enjoy the music, hope for a good seat, and cherish the good people we get to know through 10c.

I joined last summer and have had nothing from 10c yet at all, but I have made some amazing friendships and learned more about my favorite band...so I'm a happy camper! Don't stand a chance with the tix, but that's my lot for joining so late....I've known about PJ since '92 :?

I've read everything on here and also thought about it a few times over the past 24 hours and I don't mind the price increase, everything goes up. I can't think of one single thing that costs now what it did in 1991. Shit, look at gas...

The one thing that bothers me is the lack of effort put into the new packages. If you want to up the renewal fee by $25 (international) that's fine. $50 is still lower than a lot of other fan clubs. But it would be nice to see them come up with something awesome. This is the 20th anniversary. You're telling me, no one in the 10c offices could come up with something more appealing that a t-shirt?

I'm not gonna argue with anyone which level is better and if those changes are good or bad, everyone has right to have opinion
I understand that people are quitting fan club if they don't like the rules anymore but why they don't listening to music anymore? Stop listening to music if you don't like the fan club is just.... weird.

Too bad you decided to quit, hope your love to music will stay strong

Who's to say something isn't planned? I think that's something that should be judged after the fact. At the end of the year if nothing is done I think your point is valid.

I don't mind price increases if I feel I'm getting something for my money. In this instance I don't think there is enough to justify the increase. I couldn't care less about a t-shirt or a download of something that is available for purchase by anyone. Other than those two things nothing has changed from what we got with the old membership. Access to previously unreleased stuff or some signed or exclusive merchandise would make it more worthwhile. I just renewed in Dec so I still have 11 months to decide what to do. If it weren't for the fact that only premium members get the vinyl single then it would be a no brainer. However I might just buy the vinyl single off ebay for the less than $10 I usually see them being sold for.

Give me something substantial for my $40, and I'll gladly pay it. Until then, I might stick with the regular membership.

Huh? Last time I checked, they would have no careers or money without us. We don't owe them anything. We are the reason Ed is worth $80 million.

The ticketing portion of the membership hasn't changed one bit, or as far as I can tell.

I truly don't see what the big deal is.

    Has this been confirmed yet?

Losing seniority would be a big deal.
did you see me? i saw you.
