  • I just e-mailed 10 Club...I already renewed my membership for 2011 prior to this announcement and I want the Analog membership!!! I'll be pissed if I miss out on the t-shirt, vinyl, hard copy of Deep and bootleg download because I already renewed. :x I'm looking forward to a response from 10 Club next week...hopefully this can be straightened out.

I don't mind price increases if I feel I'm getting something for my money. In this instance I don't think there is enough to justify the increase. I couldn't care less about a t-shirt or a download of something that is available for purchase by anyone. Other than those two things nothing has changed from what we got with the old membership. Access to previously unreleased stuff or some signed or exclusive merchandise would make it more worthwhile. I just renewed in Dec so I still have 11 months to decide what to do. If it weren't for the fact that only premium members get the vinyl single then it would be a no brainer. However I might just buy the vinyl single off ebay for the less than $10 I usually see them being sold for.

Give me something substantial for my $40, and I'll gladly pay it. Until then, I might stick with the regular membership.

It takes you 11 months to make a decision for how to spend $20?

This is a perfect example of the absurdity of this thread.
  • Oh, and I don't mind the increase to $40! Analog all the way!

You say that as though that's a bad thing. We are a capitalism society. Welcome to the real world which PJ has always been a part of. The price of gas is going up, the price of PJ fan club is going up. At least folks still have a $20 option, which pretty much still gets them what they got before, less being able to touch a vinyl record, which MOST probably complained about getting anyways..

If you are like me and have a record player and have collected all PJ vinyl's, then you will probably have no problems paying an extra $20 to continue to do so.

All the crying and carrying on is really bringing out the worst in some members.

Losing seniority would be a big deal.

    * Access to Fan Club only Ticket pre-sales

Straight from the email. There is no way the Ten Club would change the ticketing policy and penalize long time members with this upgrade, or failure to do so, no way.

I agree but I'll take it one step further. It's not "weird", it's misguided. There's a sense here that PJ owes something to us, where I feel that we owe something to them.

Huh? Last time I checked, they would have no careers or money without us. We don't owe them anything. We are the reason Ed is worth $80 million.

If you think that their money is worth more than your experiences and pleasure from the music then I can't argue with you. For me, they have given me much more than I can give to them.

I respectfully disagree....Ed is part of the reason he's worth $80 million..his talent, his music, his words, his voice...all led us to pay out to reap the benefits of it all. I know the music business is a big rip off..something PJ fought against...but we are the ones who decided to put the money into his pot....so it is really a very equal partnership...his talent and our ability to appreciate it.

    Happy New Year!!!!

$20 and people lose their fucking minds???

    $20???

    Good grief.....

Like whatever else is the new gripe of the week, people are taking this as a personal affront. Pearl Jam has millions of fans, and we're each just one. They're a rock band whose art and career I appreciate the shit out of. We're not buddies. If you want to feel special, that's what friends and family are for.

    Happy New Year!
Being a fan from DAY ONE, I will renew to the ANALOG  LEVEL without question, and be ever so grateful that my favorite band continues to create amazing music and share their love with us.
:clap:Congratulations on being able to say this is your 20th year, Pearl Jam, and I look forward to seeing you again soon!!
    Thank you!

(PS) To the fan who thinks Ed is only worth $80M, or that his career is thanks to us, you get a pass because you are obviously hungover......hope feel better soon.
PEARL JAM in 2024! Dark Matter and MORE ! THANK YOU!!
Peace Love & Pearl Jam forever!!

Goodbye to all, your seats will not improve with my departure as I was in the 400xxx. The music this band has put out has steadily declined and now the respect for the fans is on the decline as well.

$20 is not the issue. I wonder if PJ realizes that they fan club they so dearly love and talk of, is the one and only reason that some fans are not listening to the the music anymore.

It was fun for a while though.
Peace out....go dry your tears now that you have made your final decision.

Holy smokes....those are crazy prices for those bands, IMO. It does kind of make us all seem a bit whinny, I guess. However, I think I have the same issue that most people area and that is that the 7" and Deep is no longer included with the $20 membership. As a person who has marketing experience, what it looks like to all of us is they doubled the price for the same thing that we've been paying $20 for. It probably would have been best if they would have left at least Deep (hard copy) or the 7" in with the $20 and maybe thew in a couple of stickers. I kind of do like the idea of getting the shirt, but it better be a good one. Also, I think for the $40, they could throw in another goody, like a mug, badge, or bumper stickers. When I go to renew, I will prob. go analog and my husband will digital.

I'm too damn lazy to read 18 pages of posts, so maybe someone already said this...

At the VERY least, I hope 10c doesn't go & put the analog membership t-shirt up for sale on the website, or anywhere else for that matter. PLEASE give ppl who are paying for the upgrade the peace of mind that this is an exclusive t-shirt, each year. If I see my cousin walking around in the same shirt, that she bought at Target just cause she "liked all the pretty colors," I might just have a fucking meltdown. And for fuck's sake, please tell me they will ask our sizes when we renew. If this is the only "upgrade" I'm getting in the "upgrade," I sure as hell wanna be able to wear it (if it ain't shit-ass ugly).

    OK, I've said my piece.
Yes, you get to select your shirt size. They range from Mens S-XXXL and Womens S-XXL.

My point is that I've paid much less in money than my experiences have been worth. Between the shows themselves, road trips and hang-outs with family and friends I've had a wonderful time, a time I can't guarantee I would've had otherwise.

But would you have followed and paid out if he had not been? Fans are essential in making a person rich..in both money and in the knowledge that whatever art is being produced, is actualy worth producing.

US $40 is a fair price for what all you get. How many were on here bitching that the single was not available digitally.. They get there wish and yet the masses still go mad.. They have done well to provide options for everyone.. The service provided has usually been excellent. That being said, the communication is pretty slow at best. The whole Backspacer Target vs Tenclub debacle was a total cluster and I nearly walked away. The bonus content with the In store copy and nothing for fanclub was a slap in the face.. The fact that the Preorder vinyl didn't ship until a week after the store release was completely infuriating.. Hopefully the band and it's business representatives (Ten Club, LLC) heard our outcry and will do a better job with future releases.. You can't say that all of the service is bad.. They have helped out with changing orders, fixing ticketing issues, offering discounts.. They actually answer the phone and/or emails and get you the info you are looking for.. Shop around with any other major rock act and price/service compare and you'll probably agree.. Yeah, I miss the old days of a money order thru the mail and a fanzine.. but the times they are a changing.. Happy New Year.. Be ye Analog or Digital.. Analog all the way for me..

After reading so many pages, I think the final consensus is:

10C Members are rich, rich, RICH!!!

Except me. I cannot afford the $90 ticket prices, and I can't afford $40 memberships. Fans like me are thrown to the curb. Thanks a lot Pearl Jam. From the band who cared so much about being affordable for all their fans, they are now in the elitist group.

Have fun everyone, I won't be renewing this year. Perspectives change, people change (especially Edddie Vedder), and I won't succumb or contribute to the green disease.

I hate to say it, but my annual U2.com membership is a better deal than the PJ 10 Club. I'll stick around for the digital membership since this is the 20th anniversary and all, but U2 is now officially treating its fans better for the money (for one thing, you don't have to wait around and wonder when you'll get your annual exclusive music -- usually one or two CD's or LP's worth -- since it is sent out as soon as you re-up).

I will be renewing, but $20 is $20. It seems to be that money isn't a big concern here and I'm glad some people have that luxury to not worry about money, but I'm a grad student w/ a family so we aren't that lucky. Good point about the ticket prices too. When you couple it all together, for my family (since with live in the South and have to travel) membership, ticket prices (which have also be increasing), gas for travel, hotel, and food on the road we could easily spend $700-1000 yearly on PJ. Now, that is a chunk of change. I know nobody is holding a gun to my head, but I love the band and it's basically what we do for fun and recreation so, the price of a PJ vacation just got a little higher for us and this may just be the first of a rise in prices. Also, like I said in a previous post, I don't think the main issue is not the $40 membership, it's that you have to pay that extra $20 to maintain they same type of membership that we've all been receiving for $20. That's just how I see it and that being said, I do love and respect the band and I am thankful for Ten C. However, I think one of the reasons we are all PJ fans is that we do question things and think for ourselves, otherwise we would all be over on Katy Perry's website and listening to Kiss FM. Just like the band, we think too and have our own opinions and are entitled to freedom of speech (that includes whining on here as long as it's in the board guidelines ;) ). We don't just follow the heard and that sometimes means we question TenC and their decisions.
