Hey Im a teacher and have a multitude educational friends who spend their summers working at Alpine Valley. There HAS been talks already of this festival happening there. Take it for what its worth but something is in the pipeline there for this event. :D

Just wanted to make sure that this "LITTLE" info doesn't get lost here.

i think Red Rocks would be an awesome venue....and not too hot.

what was the original release date of Ten? i think it'll be somewhere around that date.

    whenever...or...where ever.... sounds amazing!

only thing better would be a 7 day pearl jam cruise. :)

Imagine if the crusie ship ran aground on an island, and we were stuck there for a few weeks!

PJ could play a few sets everyday to help pass the time. Hopefully there would be some smart professor who could rig up a generator!

  • To collect our thoughts...probably in August because the 20th anniversary of Ten...at a existing concert venue with campgrounds, thus minimize logistical issues...somewhere arguably in the middle of the country. Such as Alpine Valley, Wakarusa, Bonaroo. Any other festival campgrounds you can think of?

i really really really hope it is not at a typical "venue". Imagine the whole country trying to get tickets for a 25k seat venue. You know that all the tickets would all end up in the wrong hands.......and that would sure make for a $$$$$$$ ticket. I would much rather see it in a 100k+ field so anyone who wants to go can go.

My theory is the show will be 8/27/2011 as this is the exact date of the release of Ten and the date is a Saturday. The "middle of the country " is around Bonner Springs, KS as this 1800 miles from the west (Portland, OR) and 1500 miles from the east (Portland, ME) though I do think Alpine Valley is a good choice.

This would be great timing and pretty fair for all in the US. I'm going to start saving and thinking of an excuse to leave the kids for a weekend with the grandparents...that hasn't happened yet and they are 6 and 8, but this is a biggie and I REALLY want to go..wherever it is. I will play all my cards if I have to... 8-)

They are building a new outside venue in NW Arkansas call Osage Creek Performing Arts Center set to open up in June 2011. They have announced 3 big names are already booked but they won't say who yet. I heard today from an inside source Pearl Jam was one of them! Who knows? It could happen right? NW Ark is pretty close to center of the US!

Wherever it is, I will be there!

BTW- I just looked this venue up. How the heck would you get there?? And why do I have the the theme song to STORM CHASERS running through my head right now?

    http://www.arkansas.com/attractions/att ... =Tontitown

Storm chasers? That's funny! I love that show! But it's not flat here, very hilly and mountains!

The biggest airport (which is only supposed to be 12 miles away) is XNA, Northwest Ar Regional Airport. Tulsa airport is only 1 hr 45 away. And Springfield, MO is only about 1 1/2 hr away. If this is true (and it came from a pretty good source supposedly) Pearl Jam will be the biggest name to ever come to this area!

As a Fayett-Villain, I don't know that I'd like this. I want to travel somewhere for this show, not drive 10 minutes. But it would be cool for some fellow jammers to come to NWA. We don't have too many (that I know about). We could rock out Dickson street!

Oh, and what's up gilliam. Woot!

Interesting...and "green'....sounds PJ friendly to me....but too darn far for me to get to :?

This is only a 16,000-capacity concert and event venue. Surely it will be at a location with at least a 50,000 person capacity....
  • Yeah, I think you're right. But if that's the case and they do make it for like 50k+, I hope they have a special section gated off up front for the 10c members. I don't want to have to fight a million people to try and be close. That's why I'm not a big fan of festivals. Wherever it is, I can't wait.

A gated off 10C section would be the size of a festival crowd in itself :D

Hubby not keen on traveling for a festival...I'm bummed out...but seriously thinking of just going with a friend if he really won't go. Love him to bits but I've NEVER seen PJ so have to do something in 2011! What kind of money are we usually looking at for this? Average the travel to at least 1500 miles as I am on the east coast.
Thanks for any info...gotta get there somehow :P
  • I think Manchester, TN still sounds like a good idea.

I bet you could do it for less than $1000.

Say $300 for for your tickets if it's a 3 day thing
    $400 flight
    $300 food and split lodging

Poconos would be good - its closer than Chicago.

I hope it doesn't conflict with Lollapalooza. (Couldn't, if it was in Chicago though)

I don't give a fuck if it's in hell, I'll be there! Of course, I'd prefer the Gorge..for what it's worth.

The Gorge would be my choice as well. Magical. Just in summer can be a bit rough...but if we stay hydrated and watch out for each other. :D
