seems like it would make more sense to fly into NE IL or SE WI.

Yeah, I meant to write Milwaukee Wisconsin. Damn kids distracting my PJ moments. My bad. For some reason I just wrote MI which looked like Michigan. It is actually cheaper to Milwaukee (230's) than Chicago (250's) from Hartford and Frontier Airlines has a direct flight so again I hoping for Alpine Valley. :D

Soooooo, are we sure that the location has really already been determined? Is it possible they are still scouting locations in "the middle of the country"? I don't know that much about the business but depending on how big they want this thing to be, I think its possible they haven't decided yet. Crazy?
The bigger its gonna be, the more likely they have a venue picked out I'd say. But I have no idea what they are planning...20000, 50000, 100,000 people (anyone know the largest crowd they've drawn all by themselves?)

    Thoughts on those issues?

The nice thing about Alpine Valley is the hotel (Alpine Valley Resort) in walking distance. I wonder if we polled different destinations which would be the favorite. Seems many people like Alpine Valley even though they would have to travel.

with PJ theres no telling i have seen them in a crowd of 250people
200,000 plus i mean this being a pj weekend celebration might draw way more of a crowd i still think there should be a fan club section an i think a pj tat's count for more than a low membership number but either way i hope us the fans get the best spot at the venue

The only thing determined is that people read other peoples' wishes/hopes/predictions in these threads, and then take them for fact!

Also plenty of hotels along highway 43 in New Berlin, Wisconsin on the way to Alpine Valley. :)
  • The announcement of a possible "Pearl Jam Weekend Party" sounds great!
My only concern would have to be will they announce the date at a good time.
We need a heads up here in the states so plans can be made for such a big event.
And so do our friends in Europe,Australia,New Zealand and many other countries.
This thing has the possibility to be HUGE.
So please Pearl Jam,Kelly Curtis,& 10c. a 3-4 month heads up would be greatly appreciated.
Here Here!! I need time to plan and save so I can organize the trip to be a PTO vacation!!! Thanks in advance guys!

I saw DMB at Alpine 2 years ago and were staying in Chicago for the weekend. The drive is not terrible, but be wary of the Wisconsin Police, as there is one road out of the venue and many people had been pulled over for drinking....including myself. Good think I was sobered up by then. Regardless, probably the best choice of venue possible, since it is HUGE and the atmosphere was so chill!
    ...44 shows...and counting....

If you read the information on Wikipedia about Alpine Valley in the section about notable performers playing the venue, it states "Pearl Jam, Rush & Phish have all regarded Alpine Valley as one of their favorite venues to play. Dave Matthews has stated many times that Alpine is the band's favorite place to play". As we all know everything on Wikipedia is accurate so this must be true. :D Though I do know Dave has recorded two of his lIve Trax at this venue so the sound must be at least good.

alpine or chicago would be reeeall cool. How many people can alpine hold? I mean, you figure that there'd be a lot of people showing up for this thing...they can sell out a solid 50,000 tix for a "festival" of sorts esp. if they get another big name act. either way, i'll go wherever it's at.

    Alpine holds 40,000
  • I'm looking for pictures of Alpine Valley and I can't find any. Anybody have any? I've never been and It'd be an 11 hour drive from the Ozarks, but as much as you guys like it, sounds like it would be worth it. Maybe I'll just fly.
