I agree. Apart of St. Augustine, I have never heard of any of these cities. Not even Simcoe, especially that I've been living in Toronto since June 2007.

Not only will Alabama Shakes be joining Mumford & Sons for a date on GOTR tour...but from Rolling Stone:
The Midnight Ramble will roll on at the Grammys when Elton John and Mumford & Sons lead a tribute to the late Levon Helm, The Associated Press reports. As part of the awards show's in memoriam tribute, John and Mumford & Sons will be joined by T Bone Burnett, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Zac Brown and Mavis Staples for a special performance of the Band's "The Weight."

    CAN NOT WAIT!!! :D

Just saw them last night at the Barclays Center. It was a great show! Even met a fellow 10c member pregaming it at the Black Sheep Pub - LOL! We had general admission tickets so it was tough crowd but we stuck through it! ;)

Red Rocks show on show time tonight 915 :corn:
BIG EASY EXPRESS followed :D - Mumford & Sons, Old Crow Medicine Show & Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes - doc of railroading through the south playing train depots - awesome stuff!!!

Also - Mumford & Sons played "I'm on Fire" @ Springsteens "MusicCares" honor last night - and according to EW, Twitter and etc, it was a special moment...

LOVE to hear Alabama Shakes version of "Adam Raised a Cain"...

Bummer ED bailed on it though  - wonder why?

Mumford & Sons won a trophy for best longform video (Big Easy Express) :D
They are incredible live - the vibe at their live show is awesome. Hopeful they have a long career, I enjoy seeing them live, and totally love their love of those that came before them.

Check out Alabama Shakes also as far new music goes...incredible!

I'm so glad the future is bright with these awesome up and comers...especially since PJ takes so much time off from proper touring and album releasing.

Did anyone else enjoy the performance at the grammy's

I was very surprised to see Jack White. I don't think it was a bad show.
Now that FUN won something maybe I won't have to hear it again?....Tonight..... :D

  • Mumford and Sons won Album of the Year at the Grammys. Though I'm not the biggest fan of that group and I personally enjoy El Camino by the Black Keys and Blunderbuss by Jack White more, Mumford and Sons deserve to win this award. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Grammy's really did great for rock this year! And Dave Grohl is still hosting Chelsea Handler's show? Maybe he will take over? He is so funny!
I was surprised, the small bits I watched, how it wasn't overloaded with Glee stuff.

Now, They should finally tour the SOUTH!!! and not in a festival!

Very unique! British musicians inspired by Deep Southern Blue Grass... (remind anyone of rolling stones, I wasn't alive, but I read about it) *Muddy Waters* ..gotta pay my respects.

    I love these guys.

Shocked that Babel won album of the year. I honestly didnt even think it deserved to be nominated.
There were a lot better albums released that deserved to have that spot.
It was an ok album, not nearly as good as "Sigh No More"
And so you see, I have come to doubt

Didn't deserve to be nominated? Wow...you do realize it was the best-selling rock album of 2012?

To each his own...They are not for everyone...

I personally think it is better than "Sigh No More"...there are literally no lapses in "Babel"..."Sigh No More", while a great album, has a few fast forwards...the 6 pages of reviews prior to this seem to agree about "Babel" as well...
I suggest you see them live. While their performance last night was really good, they are arguably one of the best live bands around today. Talented group of guys right there... What an amazing feeling at the live gigs - cannot wait to see them again!

It's a shame Alabama Shakes didn't win the new artist award. fun. didn't impress me at all.

I actually have to agree! I love both albums but there's just something about Babel I like better. I do have to say though the song "Thistle and Weeds" sounds amazing live!

i keep waiting for this band to write a new song. no disrespect to those that like them, but the industry really seems to be milking this folk pop thing in music right now, and it's killing the vibe for the artists that are actually doing it well ie: fleet foxes, avett brothers. well maybe not killing the vibe, but it's frustrating that it's always the wrong bands that get all of the attention.

i see little difference between mumford and sons, lumineers and phil Phillips. (well I've only heard his one song, but it sounds like a mumford and sons song).....paint by numbers emo-pop with acoustic guitars and a banjo.

anyway, the grammys were always a joke (as jeff ament once said, how do you get an award for art?), but to be fair in the album of the year category, this band shouldn't have even sniffed a nomination with all the music that came out this year. jack white and frank ocean both had better albums and were nominated themselves.

It seems the "industry" is pushing this folk rock and their brethren's (the Media) anti-bullying frenzy simultaneously to turn us into a country of PUSSIES.
But I will wait I will wait for something NEW!

PS that lead singer has far away eyes like he has a bit of down syndrome or he is down with the crazy eyes killer from curb your enthusiasms.
  • I was really looking forward to Babel and then realized it was basically the same music as before. Biggest dissapointment album of 2012 if you ask me. And I think Blunderbuss should have taken it down... Not surprised it didn't and really don't care since nothing good ever wins anyway, ha.

100% Agree with this. And for those that think it's the same song over and over you clearly haven't listened to all of their music. Broken Crown is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs of all time...it's a perfect piece of music with highs and lows. Just amazing. I find myself listening to Babel more than Sigh No More. I still haven't seen them live yet...I have a feeling when I do my obsession with them will skyrocket!

Having seen them live, I can honestly say your obsession will skyrocket :lol:
If you haven't done so, I HIGHLY recommend the Daytrotter sessions ep...some awesome covers done on their bus and in a gym that will blow your mind. Their Live at RedRocks DVD is magnificent as well.

They had a link on the fan forum on their web from the musicares w/ "I'm on Fire" cover...omg it was amazing.
I went to the Hollywood Bowl show with the Mrs, who was not a fan prior, and now its "when are they touring again, when's our next show? God they were awesome" :D Very excited for them last night to get record of the year. Its the one record I continually played, moreso then Jack Whites (which I love) and Frank Oceans (which is great).

I cannot wait to see them live again, the vibe at their show and the energy reminds me of a band we all love and adore ;) I just hope they have the same longevity...

Keep on rockin on Mamasan, can't wait to read your review when you finally see them - they'll floor you for sure!
