Except for nearly freezing to death, last night was amazing. I agree with your post, the cover of With a Little Help From My Friends was out of this world. Insanely good. I kept thinking - where's The Cave, they've played every thing else in the world, where is it? Worth the wait.
And it did almost feel like a PJ show - everybody kept telling me to see them live and I'm glad I finally did. We weren't up as close, but still in box seats dead center and - wow, it's hard to make words. I loved that people stood up for the whole show.
(And I've always liked Dawes - would like to see them in a smaller venue, just them, sometime. Loved the mess up in When My Time Comes...)
Thank you for your reaffirmation - your post is beautiful, truly.
I was one of those up for the whole show..Garden Box 516. What a show. All I've been thinking bout today...
How about Ed & Marcus covering "Awake My Soul" with a "Nothingman" tag????

Seeing Ed and Marcus, wouldn't that be incredible? What did you think of the opening act? My daughter posted a photo on FB (she's 16, went with me because my husband had work - he was not happy) of the show and wrote "The Depressing Guy, Dawes, and Mumford at the Bowl!"
RUN, do not walk - or pass up a chance to see these guys if they come within driving distance of you!!!
Last night's show @ the Hollywood Bowl was as good of a concert of any band that I have EVER seen. (Hundreds attended in 40 yrs)
Truth. Not hyperbole. I knew these guys were good live, love the albums. The talent these gents have, the energy that emanates from their stage onto the crowd = holy shiiiiza.
Seriously. I'm a huge fan. My wife went with me (joint birthday presents) - kick ass seats @ Hollywood Bowl (what a venue)...she's not nearly as "rabid" as I ...Until last night...
From her: I cannot believe this guys voice...oh my god, you were right, I can't believe how great they are...I can't believe this energy...I want to see Pearl Jam here
The cover of With a Little Help From My Friends with the opening band (Dawes) shook the place.
WOW. Blown away this morning. There were moments - esp during The Cave, Little Lion Man and Awake My Soul that I felt I was at a PJ show with the people jumping, the energy and the cohesiveness of the band.
I hope these guys have a LONG career. They have fans for life in me and the Mrs.
Amazed...
That's awesome. A friend of mine flew out to LA for the show last night...can't wait to hear the details from him. I saw Mumford do "With a little help from my friends" w/ Dawes back in August at the Chicago Theatre....what an awesome moment that was. I completely agree with you...after seeing them live, they have a fan for life in me as well.

Now I wish I had tix for Monday night. Oh well.
I am working feverishly and furiously to get tickets to tomorrows show - solely for the reason I want to see "Sigh No More" live...
Liked Dawes - nothing spectacular, but their version of "When My Time Comes" w/ Marcus was awesome - esp w/ the gaffe on Marcus' part... Their finale was super great = 'Dead' like with the distortions and elongation of the band...
Would LOVE to see PJ & Mumford cross paths... so many similarities(awesome posters - Sat & Mon go together to create 1 print, involvement of openers, pre-set w/ openers, crowd vibe, etc...)
Saw only the last song for the Aaron opener...
Be well Enkidu, wished I knew u were there, at least to say HI, intro myself and buy you a beer...
Long live Mumford & Sons!!!

I'll take you up on the beer - I almost bought the $28 sangria last night but that seemed a little too insane I settled for $8 wine.
Hope you get to go tomorrow. Oh, and have you heard Middle Brother, the Dawes guy's other band? Cause I like their music. Thought Dawes sounded a little too slow and almost pop-y at the beginning. And the Aaron guy, wow, he was depressing.
Did you make it to the second show at the Hollywood Bowl last night?
Sadly, no. Couldn't play the scalpers game. Even though the setlist didn't alter much from Sat's show, man I really wanted to be there. These guys are so incredible, I'm truly still blown away by what I experienced Sat nite.
These guys (IMO) are everything that is right with music, gives me hope that 20 somethings in the industry can remain true to their own vibe, create something unique, honor history while paving their own way.
Long live Mumford & Sons!
My wife was so funny last night...I had Not With Haste playing, loudly, and instead of the typical "Can you turn that down?" request, she said "God, I wish we were seeing them again! They were fucking great!" I'm so glad she became a fan.
YES 81 - I saw that heads up last night on a Mumford fan board - apparently its a live show with Q & A!!! Listen, you will not be disappointed, I swear. These guys are the real deal!
This is ridiculous good...unreal...early, they look like they just rolled outta bed, late show last night...
The version of "Ghosts That We Knew" is beautifully moving...wow.
Thanks to 81 - for the heads up on a webcast - I thought yesterday it was just audio, to see this live is awesome!

Oh no, because my PJ sickness wasn't enough. Watched the webcast, agree, they looked totally bed-head-y. Loved it though.
First band I have traveled to LA for, besides Pearl Jam... I've seen them around 10 times now, and the shows have all BLOWN MY MIND!!! I only saw the 1st La Show, I wasn't standing, I was JUMPING AROUND LIKE A MADMAN, something Pearl Jam made me do, but hasn't since 2006... I passed on the $28 sangria, but did drink a $12 beer, and I needed it, I was so thirsty and had NO intention of leaving my 5th row seat... BEST LIVE BAND!!!!! Dawes is great too!
Seriously. Babel is perfect. In every way. Hot damn. Cannot stop listening to it!
Yep. That album is awesome! Hoping for a big US tour next year. Gotta see these guys live again!
My fingers are crossed...I haven't seen them yet and I just keep hearing so many great things about their live performance. I may even just try for tix to surrounding areas too If both Mumford and PJ tour next year...I'm gonna be broke as a joke!

Yeah I could definitely see myself travelling to go see Mumford. You are right on...if PJ and Mumford are both touring next year, it's going to be an expensive one!

Dance Dance Dance by Neil Young?
if anyone has this on video or audio, could you kindly let me know where I can find this?
Blown away that this was a secret show...glad it was filmed for an upcoming Live at The Artists Den, however.
Lucky peeps who were there...
