Another vote for Sonic Youth, my wife still swears that their set before the 06 Vegas show is the reason she now wears earplugs to all shows  Oh and Thundercat opening for RHCP this past year. Awful!!

Henry Barbe opening for the Drive-By Truckers at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA.

Henry is David Barbe (Sugar bassist and DBT producer)'s son. Boo to musical nepotism!

Luder and Black Cobra opening for Kyuss were probably the worst ever. But also playing was The Sword and to my surprise, were awesome.

The Cobbs warming up for BRMC were torture. Dead Combo just kind of scared me.

Also the Antlers and Deep Sea Diver with the Shins....again torture.
did you see me? i saw you.

Buckcherry opening for Kid Rock back in 2002. I think it was at the height of singer Josh Todd's substance abuse issues, and well before the band launched a comeback with "Crazy Bitch" a few years ago. After the Kid Rock show, my friends and I hit a local club where a bar band did a better version of Buckcherry's "Lit Up" than Buckcherry had at the concert.

I also saw a (presumably local/regional) opening act in Cincinnati at a Better Than Ezra show in 1999 that was horribly mismatched with the headliner--the opener was a heavier rock band with a darker sound, badly put with the lighter alt-pop of BTE. At the end of the opener's set, the singer said "Goodnight! Enjoy your pussy rock!" I'm sure they had a beef with the promoter that booked them for the show, but there was no need to take it out on an audience that hadn't been hostile to them or anything.

I've seen some real shitty support bands in my time, but I think the band Minny Pops supporting Slash took the biscuit - new wave/art rock from Amsterdam based pensioners.

Check out their song 'Dolphin's Spurt' - I fucking dare you!

I saw those sacks of shit before a Tool show. Chainsaws make better "music" then those assholes.

Still ... I'd rate them even or better then Mars Volta.

Someone mentioned Fiction Plane opening for the Police... How true!!

...another one: Peeping Tom (Mike Patton's band) opening for the Who in 2006. Sounded like someone throwing kitchen utensils down some stairs. Went back to the beer garden during this set.
