Damn this album for being too good! One of the best in rock history. To me, it's the 'perfect' album; tracks 1-12 are all great. No filler songs on the album at all. It's tough for me to decide what my favorite song on the album is because they're all great.

Really? I hear this album gets so much recognition for being one of their best and being one of the best albums of the 90s and rock history.

    The BEST U2 album...

And "Mysterious Ways" is the best U2 song

    IMHO :)

  • AMAZING album.

Zoo station, until the end of the world, mysterious ways, ultra violet light, acrobat and love is blindness all give me the chills. And while I'm at it, that song from Batman is my favorite U2 song.

U2's first real Rock & Roll album.

It's nothing less than my all time favorite album, from any artist. At some point each of the songs has been my favorite on the album. It is the perfect album. And up until this album, I kind of had an indifferent view on U2. I mean I kind of liked most of their hit songs up until that point but didn''t think of them as a great band until Achtung Baby. The balls they had to make that album after riding so much success on their Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum sound. Wow.

I agree it is essentially a perfect album.

    But underrated? Nah.

BinFrog is right. When this album came out it was HUGE. There is no such thing as Achtung Baby being underrated on this Earth. You'd probably never know though, since it never seems to get mentioned or brought up in the press as anyone's favorite.

Yea, man. The early 90's was a good time to see live music. I'd have to check to be sure, but I think that same summer was the first time I saw Pearl Jam @ Lollapalooza (Montage Mt). Good times, for sure...

I was only like 1, 2 at the time of ZooTV. Why haven't I bought the DVD yet? I don't know.

For all of you that saw them on the ZooTV tour, what was the difference between the arena and stadium shows?

"The Fly" is my favorite U2 song.

It's been described as the sound of U2 "cutting down the Joshua Tree," and I couldn't agree more.

    Amazing record.

That's a great analogy. A fellow PJ fan and huge admirer of Achtung Baby and I have had a similar conversation about the first time we heard "The Fly". How it was so sublimely different than anything they had made previously. That album is ahead of its time still today.

    zoo tv?????
that was the worst U2 tour in their history

y'all must have been too young to see them before they became pop stars

and I agree that achtung may be their most listenable record
    joshua tree comes close though
of course, I was lucky and saw them for the first time in 1983

05/08/1983 Trinity College - Hartford, Connecticut, USA
Out Of Control, Twilight, An Cat Dubh, Into The Heart, Surrender, Two Hearts Beat As One / Let's Twist Again (snippet), Seconds, Sunday Bloody Sunday, The Cry, The Electric Co. / Send In The Clowns (snippet)
encores: New Year's Day, Gloria, I Will Follow, 40

back when they were hungry for success instead of spoiled by it-and this is coming from someone that has remained a fan and attended two nights of the five night letterman stand for the last record
  • I downloaded a bunch of their albums yesterday and so far Im kinda dissapointed. The only albums I really dig are Achtung Baby, Joshua Tree, and their latest album.

I got Unforgettable Fire, Zooropa, and the other 2 albums that came out in the 2,000's. Dont really care for them so far.

I was in a record store yesterday and saw this on vinyl for $25 and almost bought it. Kinda wish I would have. It didn't have the insert, but it had the uncensored version of the cover.

I'm still holding out for the new deluxe vinyl. They're supposed to release their entire back catalog on 180 gram, with extra tracks, the works.

Good to know. I know they have re-issued all of thier old 80's stuff, but I didn't figure they would re-issue the 90's stuff as well. Big fan of thier 90's albums. Will buy them re-issued for sure.
