One warning Shep, if you don't like the strong taste of onions, make sure to get your burger without onions as they put A LOT and it's a strong tasting onion.

Do you get grilled onions?? They are sooooo good. not that strong

Shep.....go in with really low expectations. These burgers suck azzz......

    ;)

are you saying it's just more of the 'culture' than the food itself?

Nah.....just don't want him dissapointed!!!

Good point. The food is good, but in the end it is still just a burger. ;)

Only when I get the animal style, but I actually don't mind the onion slice and sometimes get my burger with it included. My regular standby is the double double with no onions though.

So... 36 hours later the results are in...

While In 'n' Out was good... it doesn't hold a candle to 5 guys. I had a double-double animal style and 'well-done' fries with a root beer.... It was a tasty burger, but the fries were a disappointment. 5G's fries are absolutely amazing.... Given the choice between the two, I would not hesitate to go to 5G's...

Frankly the whole In 'n' Out operation felt more like a California version of 'McDonalds' that people from California choose to support instead of McDonalds so they can say their different from the rest of america....

Now I'm not saying it wasn't a really good burger and fries, but I gotta say 5G's is so much better, I don't think I'll be going out of my way to find another In 'n' Out....

Comparing In "n" Out to Mcdonalds is just absolutly ridiculous, and saying we support it to be different from the rest of America is just plain ignorant. :fp:

Shep, i love your taste in beer and music of course, but for burgers your review is blasphemy. i urge you to reconsider by trying another animal style burger vs five guys. i've had both and do agree five guys has some pretty awesome fries but man...oh and the mcdonalds comparison, in so cal you would get pummeled for saying that. btw, i may have some pliny's in early September...

For a glass of Pliny's - I love In 'N" Out... it is the greatest burger on the freaking planet!!!

I'd get pummelled for a lot of things in So Cal I think... Every year my political views seem to be becoming more and more conservative... and that's just a start ;)

Maybe it was the bad taste left in my mouth from the guy I was there to see... bought a 1/2 million dollar piece of equipment from a manufacturer out there, I show up for the testing, then he hurries me out of the office so he can go out to lunch... and doesn't even invite me... I was miffed at the guy, to say the least... maybe it spilled over to hatred of the burger... i dunno

since the closest In N Out is 2000 miles away from where I live.....

    I'll vote Five Guys
Two years later and In N Out is 1000 miles closer to me. So maybe by 2014 there will be one in SC and I can make a real judgment?
