Five Guys fries are WAY better than In-N-Out fries! And since fries are more important than burgers, that's all that matters to me.

+1, if a place has sucky fries, I won't go back (though good fried mushrooms may tempt me)

lol.............i picked up on that too.
5 guys, in n out, dicks............

seems my mind is always in the gutter.

and btw, I pick In-n-Out. I've had 5 guys, they're good. Quite expensive. There is one in Carson, Ca.

We get 5 Guys at work pretty much every Friday. Fries were great today. I don't have an In & Out within 2000 miles either.

However, case of grass being greener on the other side (of the country)... I vote for In & Out.

Whoever said the burger isn't important - um, what are you talking about?

I finally tried a five guys burger today (don't have 1 where i live)
It was delicious but I am leaning towards in-n-out for the win. Maybe it's the thousand island dressing.

I've had both but vote for 5 guys because of the choices of toppings you get and also it's a hand formed burger so better imo. :)

    Yummy
Double Double Animal Style from In n Out just scratches an itch, for some reason.
5 Guys is super yummy, a lot more expensive, and the frie overload is great.
Any place you can slap pickles, jalapenos, fried onions, banana peppers, A1, hot sauce & mushrooms is worth it... (so I'll go 5 Guys :0)
Not seeing too many people talk up Carvers Famous Butter Burger - hell of a burger - with a side of cheese curds :)
    Shake Shack is awesome
Hodads in Ocean Beach however, holds the crown :)
Holy cow do I want a hungover 10 am greasy burger right now :)

White Castle will always be my personal favorite, but it's much better when you are drunk and very dangerous a few hours later.

5 Guys was pretty damn good. There's no In and Out burgers around here, so I can't speak for it.

I tried Sonic once, which everyone seems to rave about, but it was the most generic fast food I've ever had. There was nothing special at all about it.

I think I'm the only person in Chicago or anywhere for that matter, who's not thrilled by Portillos. It just doesn't do anything for me. My family, especially when the ones from California when they fly in are obsessed.

Their burgers seem bland, I've had much better roast beef, and the hot dogs aren't that great.

You find much better food at U.S. Cellular Field in my opinion.

You guys are making me dying to get out to California now just to finally experience the In n' Out burger. I've been to Five Guys once... it was somewhere west of Boston. All I remember is that it was a ridiculous portion of burger and fries. I don't even want to know how many calories it had. I'm perfectly satisfied with a Wendy's Jr Bacon Cheeseburger.

Just had a Five Guys burger today for the first time and was impressed. It was overflowing with toppings and the burger itself was very tasty. It was like $6 for the burger but it was also the most expensive one on the menu (bacon cheeseburger). I still think Fuddruckers is better though and I have only had an In 'N Out burger once. Five Guys was better.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

I just had it for the first time this year. Animal style double. I was in SF with my brother, and this was the only culinary request.
Compared to McDs or BK or wendys, 1000 times better.
But I was not really impressed.

I think they have one in orange county somewhere

in n out was great last year

They just opened a Five Guys in Cerritos, CA within the last year. I like it, especially with the options you have for toppings/sauces/condiments, but it's hard to top a double-double animal style. Growing up in SoCal, I've got to go with In-N-Out.
For those in the area though, I can suggest another place I really like. The Habit. It started in Santa Barbara and we used to go there all the time in college at UCSB. They now have places in and around the LA area. Pretty delish.
