Fucking a Penn State. I have no clue what to think. Hopefully they keep Larry Johnson on to finish out the recruiting, which is already a shitty class.

Not sure what you are expecting. No way should they hire an alumni that worked with JoPa and/or Sandusky. If I was a top coach at a smaller school, I don't even think I would want the job right now. Better to let it blow over for the next 2-3 years and then start rebuilding. The program needed to be gutted and started over.

unfortunately they didn't have a lot of other choices. seems like everyone who was mentioned as a candidate tried to distance themselves from it. the niners offensive coordinator was the only other guy i noticed who didn't try to distance himself...and the 49'ers are not really winning with their offense this year

i agree with pjsteeler in that they had to go for someone with no ties...and literally any alumni would have had ties in one way or another to sandusky.

    fucking thing sucks.

Michigan football player Darryl Stonum was sentenced to 10 days in jail Friday for violating probation on charges of operating a vehicle while visibly impaired.

Stonum was ticketed in Ann Arbor on Thursday for driving to a probation office on a revoked license. Coach Brady Hoke said Thursday that Stonum's standing with the program is unchanged "until we know everything."

Hoke suspended Stonum from the team in May after his second arrest in three years on charges of driving while visibly impaired. Stonum was redshirted this season and, provided he's not dismissed from the program, is expected to be a focal point of the offense as a senior next year.

i'll settle for some defense. or anything that resembles defense.

    wait for monday

those defenses are so good, neither the pats nor the packers could score on either

total in the no/det game is 60

the nfl defenses are just as bad as the college. didn't the saints put up 70 on someone this year???

I don't know how anyone can rip college and like the nfl. absurd. I watch both, but the cfb product is 10 billion times better

anyone want to take bets on who the next PSU coach will be in 2014?

Mrs fixer (psu grad) is not happy. sandusky aside, pretty funny.

Luckily for them they are in the big 10, so they will still be competitive

did she want them to keep bradley?

i can't get over how these psu alums cannot fathom the idea of hiring someone with no connection to the university.

she isn't enough of a sports fan to know one way or another. She is just bitter about how the paterno thing went down (justifiably pissed off, IMO). I had her sold on mario cristobal (you prob don't know him...he's the FIU coach...would have been a perfect fit if you know his history).

the PSU and big ten fans are dilusional. I think it's hilarious

I wish Bradley could have been given a year or two shot but I understand that they had to go outside the program. What I like about the hiring is that he seems like a fiery guy who doesn't take shit, he must be a smart guy being a Brown grad and his college resume has some pretty good academic schools on it. What I don't like is part of what Arringtion said. This guy has no fucking clue what he is getting into. I understand that no matter what, they were going to get someone that is not familiar with the Penn State family and tradition, but I wish they got someone with some college head coaching experience. This guy is taking over a tough situation and is not only going to be tasked with winning games on the field but he is going to have to recruit, keep donors happy and fund raise, along with upholding the graduation rates and academic performance while restoring the Success With Honor that the 110,000+ who show up every Saturday and hundreds of thousands of donors across the country expect. He has no room for a learning curve and there is no way someone like this won't need one. I think Tim Murphy from Harvard or someone along those lines would have been perfect.

wasn't murphy one of the one's who tried to distance himself from the speculation though? i thought i read that...

i really don't think penn state had a lot of serious candidates to choose from.

o'brien may be walking into the most difficult coaching job that ever existed

I didn't see anything from Murphy but I could have easily missed it. I just think they could have gotten someone that has more experience in the college level and everything else I said. I don't think they had a big pool of candidates but money talks and I think they could have gone with more experience. I am not completely opposed to this, I know next to nothing about the guy and I will obviously support him, I just find it strange.

11:30 press conference should be interesting. Definitely a really difficult situation.

i think lavar, short, and the others should shut up though. them saying they're "done" with psu is stupid and certainly isn't helping the situation...or recruiting for that matter.

speaking of recruiting...did you see that that top safety recruit commit to alabama over lsu on live tv the other night? his mom was sitting right next to him and basically ripped her son for not choosing lsu. what a fucking bitch.
