I'll take a drunken college drop out over what we have now.
The only thing I don't like is that they could have traded down, got two 2nd round picks and still got Long. :fp: Unless nobody was calling...kinda dumb Draft strategy. :fp:

How many Offensive Lineman from Alabama were still available at #20?

You know, the line that made Notre Dame look like High School kids.

I'm not sure any were left. Picks 10, 11, and 12 were bama lineman.

    This.
It was a bad year to be in need of OL and be low on the draft order.

Nothing ever works out like it should with the Bears draft picks. That said, I'll hold off judgement until I see him lining up and taking snaps.

Yep. I don't dislike the pick, just feel that they drafted him way too high. It could turn out to be a great pick, but just seems like a reach to take a guy in the 1st round who has only started 4-5 games at Div. 1.

While nobody can every know for sure, the earliest I saw Long going was late 2nd early 3rd.
In my opinion, he probably would have been around in the late 2nd and we could have gone after a TE or a LB with the first.
There was no reason they couldn't have traded down and still got him. :fp:
Didn't seem like they thought this one through.

    Oh well.
    Typical Bears drafting...

Even Long was shocked to have been drafted in the 1st round! From what Emery has been saying, sounds like the Bears were in love with this guy. I sure hope they are right.

When they were showing footage of him last night, the first thing I thought was "Dude looks undersized (skinny) for a OL". I then searched and saw that he's 6'6" 313lbs. I guess when you're 6'6" you can really hide the weight!
I'd imagine he's still going to have to beef up a bit.

the long family says he's the most athetic of the bunch...and that's saying something.

i'm sure his pops can give him some good tips on how to defend the pass rush.

i like this pick better than last years first rounder

Glad we won't have to see him struggle for another year or 2 with another team. One of the best Bears ever.

Yeah, it would have been really tough seeing him in another uniform.

It's going to be sad that Urlacher won't be around when the Bears win the Superbowl this year.

    A 6th round pick?

    Bigtime :fp: !

Granted, he probably wasn't going to start anyways, but you'd think they'd be able to land a higher pick than 6!

That's what happens when you get arrested twice in the offseason. This Rodriguez guy was an asshole in college and it sounds like he's still an asshole. It still amazes me every time one of these morons gets a DUI. :fp:

Yeah, I suppose it really didn't come as a shock that he was an asshole. The NFL paycheck probably just made it worse.

    68 days till kickoff!
  • This year I might be going to see their training camp for the first time! I can't wait to see them in person and hopefully get some autographs!

I just wish I could see a game this year, but I doubt it. But hopefully something happens to where I can! :D
