Am I getting confused or are we having this conversation in more than one thread? :?
This law violates the rights of the US CITIZENS who will be forced to repeatedly prove their citizenship because they are suspected of being here illegally.
oh, well in that case shouldn't we leave it up to the citizens? and by the title of this post i'd say they're not too concerned about it. i haven't been in another thread with this conversation, i'll see if i can find it.
I meant "we" as in the board, not "we" as in you and I.
I think it has already been clearly established that this survey is not valid. Regardless, no, we shouldn't leave it up to the majority of citizens to determine whether the minority should be harassed.0 -

if a person is a citizen in the US how is that harassment ? and if that person is not a citizen of the US and here illegally then they will be deported as they should be.
the AZ law is not meant to discriminate against anybody it's to help correct a on going problem caused by illegal immigrants..Ilegal imigrants come in ALL colors and from just about all countries not just mexico..ever thought about that ? this law will help our whole country not just the bordering states if is spread from state to state as it shouls be.

Being made to constantly defend your legitimacy as an American citizen is harassment, especially if/when it happens to certain populations more than others.Godfather. wrote:the AZ law is not meant to discriminate against anybody it's to help correct a on going problem caused by illegal immigrants..Ilegal imigrants come in ALL colors and from just about all countries not just mexico..ever thought about that ? this law will help our whole country not just the bordering states if is spread from state to state as it shouls be.

Yes, we've thought of that. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that's what we've been saying all along. But the problem is that being a certain color causes a person to be more "suspect" than being another color.

How has it been clearly established? Because you and a few others don't like the outcome so therefore it must be a bogus poll or else you might be, oh i don't know......WRONG!!!
From the research i have looked into, most of the people from arizona support this bill. I have not ever been there but i'm sure if i lived there i'd be pretty fucking sick and tired of all the crime and drugs coming through my home state by a bunch of illegals. And i'd probably be pretty pissed off at a bunch of people like you that doesn't live there, knows nothing about what is really going on there, but yet supports the illegal aliens constitutional rights anyways all because your a little worried about hurting someones feelings because they might feel racially profiled. The people of Arizona support this bill so let's support the U.S. Citizens of Arizona. Plain and simple......common sense!!!0 -

let me ask you, are you directly affected by crime in arizona? i live in missouri and i couldn't care less about crime in kansas city. and i would defiantly oppose similar legislation if it were to pass in my homestate. it gives license to prejudge and make assumptions based on skin color alone and is unfair for those that are here legally or are citizens with a slightly darker complexion that my own.."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

However, is it okay to make assumptions that police will stop only a certain race...this bill has not even enacted and most of you are ONLY acting on assumption and zero facts...“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” Abraham Lincoln0

Dude, it's a fucking internet survey, is it not? (Correct me I'm mistaken here. I can't check since it's mysteriously been removed.) Even if it's not, please explain to me the methodology that makes this survey scientifically valid. What peer review process did it go through? Everyone and their grandmother knows that none of these informal surveys are scientifically valid.OnTheEdge wrote:From the research i have looked into, most of the people from arizona support this bill. Dude, you don't know the first thing about me. I live in New MEXICO for God's sake, so don't tell me I know nothing about what's going on in the border states. And I used to live in Arizona and am still in close contact with all my many friends who still live there - and every single one of them is vehemently opposed to this law. So I do support the citizens of AZ - by opposing a racist fucking bill of which they will be victims.I know nothing about what's going on down here... from they guy who's never even been to Arizona! SCB is on the edge! And I think I like it!
One of the best minds on the board! For sure! Not because I agree with her, but because she makes the most sense!
:ugeek:
You better bring your "A" game when going to battle with her!0 -
I haven't seen much sense so far. And she hasen't backed up anything she says. She just claims that everyone agrees with her. I believe she is wrong. All you have to do is google " Arizona citizens and the imigration bill" and pages come up showing the majority supports it. So why not leave it to them, you know , the people that actually have to deal with it first hand, you know, besides just some girl and her family that lives in new mexico and claims she knows more about it then anyone else because she lives on the border. Came across as pretty arrogant to me. You know.....that's rich0

I'll have to read those when I have more time.
But I believe you were talking about the validity of the opinions of the people who live here on the border and therefore know what's really going on here and how we should be pissed at the people who don't live here and therefore don't know what's going on here - and I agree.OnTheEdge wrote:is it possible you just think most people think like you because you want them too.

All I have said is that all the people I know in AZ are opposed to the bill. How would you like me to back that up? Sworn affidavits or something? I am interesting in seeing any scientifically valid studies that show that most Arizona citizens support the bill, though I don't think it matters because, as I've said, we shouldn't leave it up to the majority to decide whether or not the minority is harassed.
And, dude, YOU'RE the one who said people on the border know more about it than people who don't - not me. I just pointed out that I live on the border. It's not my fault your assumptions about me backfired.0 -

No, I didn't say that people on the border know more about it. I said they are the ones that have to deal with the threat of being asked for papers first hand. And the majority of the people do not mind this. plain, simple, common sense. YOU are the one that assumed you knew more about the situation then me because I have never been to Arizona. NICE SPIN!0
