Also, don't they already do this in airports. I have a brotherinlaw who's parents are from Pakistan and he gets fucked with everytime he goes to the airport. I don't hear anybody bitching about racial profiling at airports.
    actually...

sixty minutes Australia, ran a story on this in the last 12 hours or so. the video is not up to watch yet but i just read the transcript.

i think Sherrif Joe Arpaio might have some underlying issues going on within himself. he calls himself the "toughest sherrif in America", and orders illegal immigrants who are detained, to wear pink underwear because it's psychologically calming, not to mention humiliating.

pink underwear? really? what a weirdo.

and the lady being seperated from her baby. heartbreaking.

So this is where the donations go(aside from lawyers)! When the tea party folks donate millions of dollars it goes towards providing clean tighty pinkies to illegal immigrant..... On behalf of this American ... I apologize

Now that's wrong.... I can't even imagine that.... 100+ degree weather in AZ! .... ...I feel sick....

Again, Australia I apologies that you had to see that... Not all American's have that type of wacky behavior...

What a sick puppy........not that there is anything wrong with wearing tighty pinkies, but those guys must be feeling a little uncomfortable around that sheriff, and maybe around each other..... :?

we show ID as proof of citizenship all the time.

    1. Pulled over by the police.
    2. Making purchases on my department store credit card.
    3. When I show up for a doctor's appointment.
    4. When filling out a credit card or loan application.
    5. When applying for or renewing a driver's license or passport.
    6. When applying for any kind of insurance.
    7. When filling out college applications.
    8. When donating blood.
    9. When obtaining certain prescription drugs.
    10. When making some debit purchases, especially if I'm out of state.
    11. When collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel.
I'm sure there are more instances, but the point is that we citizens of the USA are required to prove who
    we are nearly every day!
Why should people in this country illegally, be exempt!!!!!
Why shouldn't we guard our borders as closely as every other country in the world does?

We're talking about proving citizenship, not showing ID. They are different. None of the things you listed above requires proof of citizenship. The only time I have to prove my citizenship is if I'm requesting some kind of benefit that is only available to citizens - NEVER do I have to defend my citizenship in my own country when I'm minding my own business.

I meant "we" as in the board, not "we" as in you and I.

I think it has already been clearly established that this survey is not valid. Regardless, no, we shouldn't leave it up to the majority of citizens to determine whether the minority should be harassed.

if a person is a citizen in the US how is that harassment ? and if that person is not a citizen of the US and here illegally then they will be deported as they should be.
the AZ law is not meant to discriminate against anybody it's to help correct a on going problem caused by illegal immigrants..Ilegal imigrants come in ALL colors and from just about all countries not just mexico..ever thought about that ? this law will help our whole country not just the bordering states if is spread from state to state as it shouls be.

i believe human rights and decency supracedes and "rights" given to "citizens" of whatever body of land sits within arbitrarily drawn up lines in the soil. to say those not born within a certain boundary lack rights and are to be herded up and sent out of that specific piece of land to another like animals is just amazingly ignorant in my opinion.

Being made to constantly defend your legitimacy as an American citizen is harassment, especially if/when it happens to certain populations more than others.

Yes, we've thought of that. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that's what we've been saying all along. But the problem is that being a certain color causes a person to be more "suspect" than being another color.

How has it been clearly established? Because you and a few others don't like the outcome so therefore it must be a bogus poll or else you might be, oh i don't know......WRONG!!!

From the research i have looked into, most of the people from arizona support this bill. I have not ever been there but i'm sure if i lived there i'd be pretty fucking sick and tired of all the crime and drugs coming through my home state by a bunch of illegals. And i'd probably be pretty pissed off at a bunch of people like you that doesn't live there, knows nothing about what is really going on there, but yet supports the illegal aliens constitutional rights anyways all because your a little worried about hurting someones feelings because they might feel racially profiled. The people of Arizona support this bill so let's support the U.S. Citizens of Arizona. Plain and simple......common sense!!!

it is clearly established because the methodology of the survey is bullshit. people can vote multiple times. msnbc.com is a liberal leaning site, yet common sense tells me that most people that lean to the left would not vote for this law in the overwhelming numbers shown by these survey results. i don't need numbers to tell me that something does not smell right about that survey.

let me ask you, are you directly affected by crime in arizona? i live in missouri and i couldn't care less about crime in kansas city. and i would defiantly oppose similar legislation if it were to pass in my homestate. it gives license to prejudge and make assumptions based on skin color alone and is unfair for those that are here legally or are citizens with a slightly darker complexion that my own..

Dude, it's a fucking internet survey, is it not? (Correct me I'm mistaken here. I can't check since it's mysteriously been removed.) Even if it's not, please explain to me the methodology that makes this survey scientifically valid. What peer review process did it go through? Everyone and their grandmother knows that none of these informal surveys are scientifically valid.

I haven't seen much sense so far. And she hasen't backed up anything she says. She just claims that everyone agrees with her. I believe she is wrong. All you have to do is google " Arizona citizens and the imigration bill" and pages come up showing the majority supports it. So why not leave it to them, you know , the people that actually have to deal with it first hand, you know, besides just some girl and her family that lives in new mexico and claims she knows more about it then anyone else because she lives on the border. Came across as pretty arrogant to me. You know.....that's rich :lol::lol:

And, dude, YOU'RE the one who said people on the border know more about it than people who don't - not me. I just pointed out that I live on the border. It's not my fault your assumptions about me backfired.

All I have said is that all the people I know in AZ are opposed to the bill. How would you like me to back that up? Sworn affidavits or something? I am interesting in seeing any scientifically valid studies that show that most Arizona citizens support the bill, though I don't think it matters because, as I've said, we shouldn't leave it up to the majority to decide whether or not the minority is harassed.

And, dude, YOU'RE the one who said people on the border know more about it than people who don't - not me. I just pointed out that I live on the border. It's not my fault your assumptions about me backfired.

No, I didn't say that people on the border know more about it. I said they are the ones that have to deal with the threat of being asked for papers first hand. And the majority of the people do not mind this. plain, simple, common sense. YOU are the one that assumed you knew more about the situation then me because I have never been to Arizona. NICE SPIN!
