  • Wow, I'm surprised MSNBC would post the results of this since they hate Jan Brewer.

  • How does this internet poll remove Fox news' right wing bias?

I would support Arizona's law... IF it were applied equally amongst Arizona's entire population. That is... EVERYONE in Arizona must carry proof of citizenship where ever they go... AND all receive the same punishment of they fail to provide the documentation... deportation to Mexico.
    ...
And I hope that every 'Mexican looking' person that is an American Citizen and is asked by the police to prove their citizenship... sues the state of Arizona, the county of record, the city of record and the police department of the inquiring officer for 400 million dollars a pop. Because , NO AMERICAN Citizen should EVER have to face questioning by authorities on his/her citizenship... based purely on race or racial features... in the United States of America.

Why is what you just said so hard or some people to understand...especially the people that claim to be against big government? Very well said...

If this law had anything to do with race the Governments lawsuit would include discrimination in there suit…..it is not even mention

yes but the federal government will claim it is an issue of supremacy stating that the federal government is superior to the state gov't and that it is the responsibility of the federal gov't to secure the borders, not the state, therefore AZ is claiming supremacy over the federal gov't and that is not legal. and on those grounds the feds will likely win.

WEll, if common sense plays into it, no way anyone finds the Federal Government claiming "supremacy" over anyone else on something like border control. It's funny, they haven't wanted to do the job for so long, except now that someone is trying something (something pretty stupid albeit) now they want to say ...hey that's our job!

Reminds me of a union worker that leaves a pile of trash on the ground. No big deal, until a non-union management employee grabs a broom to sweep it up and puts it in the trash. ;)

    ...
    Look at it this way...
How many (Southern) Border states are there? California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas? For the longest time, the other 46 states didn't give a shit about the 4 border states. And really, why should they have? Why should people living in Montana or Wyoming give a shit about problems in California or New Mexico?
So, there has NEVER been much of a fuss over the Southern Border... til NAFTA and September 11, 2001.
    ...
Now... are you willing to divert your Ohio Federal tax dollars away from Ohio issues, such as water works systems, highway and traffic upgrades and maintenance, Ohio education funding so California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas can spend them to build security systems on their borders? Maybe you do... but how do you think Ohio, as a whole, would feel about Ohio taxes going to California?
    ...
Does something need to be done? Yes.
Is it going to cost money? Yes.. tons of money.
Are you willing to pay for it in increased taxes?

I carry ID everywhere I go now. If I'm in another country I carry ID there too. It is good common sense.

I'm willing to move our troops from Iraq to the US southern border. I'm guessing it will save the taxpayers money.

I think things would be cheaper having them in the US over somewhere across the planet.

Yes... that's true. But, that's not what I asked. I asked if they would still be 'Deployed'? And in which sort of capacity?
Besides... that has nothing to do with the question.
Are you willing to be taxed to pay for increased border security... Yes or No?...
    ...
and let's combine the Identification Card thing with this...
You carry a passport while you are in a foriegn country... because you are required to carry a passport while in a foriegn country.
You previously stated that you carry an ID Card where ever you are (I'm presuming you mean, here in the U.S.). If you mean a drivers license... a drivers license does not prove citizenship. A Birth Certificate or a passport (which is issued based upon the Birth Certificate) does prove citizenship.
So... If the Arizona authorities question you on your citizenship and you do not produce a birth certificate or passport (only a Drivers License)... then, you should be put on a bus and driven to Mexico and dumped off.

WELL that is a legal concept in constitutional law, and that is what they will argue. there have been prior immigration cases decided on the concept of federal law being "supreme" to and overriding state laws, so do not expect this to be any different.

    Like this poll from MSNBC:
Poll: Just 39% believe in evolution

    From NBC's Mark Murray
Today it's not only Abraham Lincoln's birthday; it's also Charles Darwin's.

And a brand-new Gallup poll tied to Darwin's birthday finds that just 39% of Americans believe in evolution.

As expected, Gallup notes, education plays a big role here: 74% of those with post-graduate degrees believe in evolution. That's compared with only 21% of high school grads (or those with less education) who believe in the theory.

Ditto religion: 55% who don't attend church believe in evolution, versus 24% of weekly churchgoers who believe in it.

Even if the majority believe something (creationism) it doesn't make it right... and well the majority of readers of MSNBC... well MSNBC is not like the Harvard review...

    Or... how about this...
A fairly sure way to end illegal immigration is to exclude them from every aspect of our society. Exclude them from working here, from banking here, buying stuff, etc...
Couple that with making it easy to identify them... specifically, for law enforcement to identify them.
    Everyone agree? Good.
    ...
Now... since we cannot identify them now... how are we going to tag them for identification?
    That cannot be done.
BUT... we CAN tag the people who ARE citizens. The ones who are tagged can apply for work, cash their checks, purchase goods and services, buy or rent homes... participate in the American Dream.
Think of it like this... it is impossible to tag all the stray cats and dogs, right? But, we can easily tag our pet cats and dogs. Better yet... implant them with a microchip so they can easily be identified.
Same principle... Only Americans get the microchips. That chip allows us to participate in America.. to be American. A quick scan at the bank and you can open an account there or that loan application can be filled out... and you are authorized to buy that crap from Wal-Mart and you are okay to ride the subway or the bus.
Those here illegally... no scan, no welcome... Vamanos, asshole!!! When we get pulled over for speeding... the cop scans us and issues the traffic ticket and sends us on our merry way. No scan... they get the Rodney King treatment.
And to punish those bleeding heart libs that would help them... make helping or transporting them as illegal as trafficing heroin or harboring a terrorist.
    ...
Then... run a bullshit poll and ask the American people:
Would you be willing to have a microchip implanted in you to positively identify you as an Ameican Citizen if it would ensure the illegal immigant problem would vanish?
    Yes/No?
    ...
    96% say WHAT???

What's interesting is that none of the other polls have over 100,000 participants- and this AZ one has over 2 million. Most of them have about 10,000-50,000 participants . I don't even think MSNBC has 2 million viewers period ..... Strange if you ask me...... Also, some of the comments left by readers, are the types of comments you see on Fox blogs - like childish name calling ......and mainly attacks on Obama...

I listen to conservative radio every day and there are times when the host asks his listeners to take action against certain people or establishments..... and you know how the hard right can be loud and agressive.....it wouldn't surprise me if this is the case....
.....Not even a fox poll would be that lopsided ......

The conservative/right wing movement must be at play here.... 8-)

I would agree that something is very suspicious about how the data is skewed. I don't think there is one issue out there that would have 96% agreement with over 2-3 million votes.

Well count me in the 4% then.

I'm of the opinion that we should just allow anyone to become a citizen who wants to with little more than providing personal info and signing a document saying they want to join the club.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.
