Anyone think there is or will be a big difference between the incredible and the x? Or do we already know? I have searched all over and cant seem to find a place to compare the 2 side by side. If there is no real difference, may pick up an incredible and be done with it!...I suck at this internet thing sometimes. :( HELP!

I don't know about the hardware but the screen on the X is considerably larger.
If you do a google search for
Droid X vs Android Incredible
You will finda ton of comparisons.
the thing is you still can't just walk into a verizon store and pick up a Incredible because they are on backorder and won't ship out until July 22.... a week after you could walk in and buy the Droid X
the biggest difference i see is the Droid X uses motoblur as an interface system and the Android Incredible uses Sense.
the Droid X has a 4.3 inche screen and can support 720p video
incredible has 3.7 in screen and is not 720p video
I want to play with the Droid X before making my final decision but it think the Droid X also is HDMI compatable which is really cool. I want to see what battery life is like for the Droid X early reports are it is a lot better then the Incredible.

I own an iPhone 4. It's a great phone, but I've had a few data problems with it. I was able to test an incredible for about 30 minutes and was blown away. I love the weather icon on the screen as well as the sense interface. If you could transfer app purchases from the iPhone to android, i would jump over in a minute.
Once a jailbreak for the iPhone 4 comes out, its back to some serious customization.

I just got the motorola droid. it slides open so you don't have to use the terrible virtual keyboard. I like the phone a lot...does everything I need it to do (send texts, surf web, make calls, take pics)

You'll eventually discover that the virtual keyboard >>> the slide out.

The Droid X does not have the slide out keyboard. Neither does the Incredible.
The droid is a very good phone. People have loved it. Some people love the slide out keyboard others can't stand it. As with many things it is personal preference.

How do you folks who have a virtual keyboard feel about it as opposed to a real one?...Think this would be the deciding factor for me as I do text a lot. I have never used and iphone or any phone with a virtual keyboard...What say you folks who have one?? :-)

I do not have one yet but i've played with a few and they seem to grow on you after you use them a bit.
I know the new Droid X comes preloaded with a program called swype which is supposed to make it more intuitive to type and easier.

Apple knows the phone has problems but will insist that users are simply "holding it wrong," document suggests.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
* AppleCare reps are told not to perform service on iPhone 4s with reception problems
* They are instructed to instead give customers a PR-driven recitative
* The document's existence suggests Apple knows there is a widespread hardware flaw
* One law firm is seeking clients for a possible class-action lawsuit against Apple
(Mashable) -- According to documents leaked to Boy Genius Report today, AppleCare representatives are being given a strong company line to deliver to unhappy iPhone 4 owners who complain about reception issues.
Employees are told to say that the device's reception performance "is the best we have ever shipped" and that its critical antenna flaws are "a fact of life in the wireless world." They are told not to perform service on iPhones with these problems and instead to give customers a PR-driven recitative instead.
In a nutshell, Apple knows the phone has problems but will insist that users are simply "holding it wrong."
These statements are dead ringers for CEO Steve Jobs' own assertions that the iPhone 4 antenna and reception issues do not, in fact, exist. "There is no reception issue," he told one user. But the very fact that this document exists suggests that Apple execs know there is indeed a widespread hardware flaw, even if they're unwilling to address it publicly at this time.
Outside the reality distortion field, on the other hand, we and many others have been able to duplicate the issue being discussed: When held by its sides, which are composed of a metal antenna band, the phone's reception quality drops dramatically. iPhone owners in our newsroom have seen reception decrease from five to two bars simply from holding the phone with two points of contact between the owner's hand and the antenna band.
One law firm is even preparing for a class-action lawsuit against Apple and is soliciting iPhone 4 customers to contact them about reception issues.
Also, while some folks have reported that using a bumper case prevents contact with the antenna band and preserves reception quality, AppleCare reps are being told to not give bumper cases to disgruntled users.
Here's the full text of the document as reported:
1. Keep all of the positioning statements in the BN handy -- your tone when delivering this information is important.
a. The iPhone 4's wireless performance is the best we have ever shipped. Our testing shows that iPhone 4's overall antenna performance is better than iPhone 3GS.
b. Gripping almost any mobile phone in certain places will reduce its reception. This is true of the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS, and many other phones we have tested. It is a fact of life in the wireless world.
c. If you are experiencing this on your iPhone 3GS, avoid covering the bottom-right side with your hand.
d. If you are experiencing this on your iPhone 4, avoid covering the black strip in the lower-left corner of the metal band.
e. The use of a case or Bumper that is made out of rubber or plastic may improve wireless performance by keeping your hand from directly covering these areas.
2. Do not perform warranty service. Use the positioning above for any customer questions or concerns.
3. Don't forget YOU STILL NEED to probe and troubleshoot. If a customer calls about their reception while the phone is sitting on a table (not being held) it is not the metal band.
4. ONLY escalate if the issue exists when the phone is not held AND you cannot resolve it.
5. We ARE NOT appeasing customers with free bumpers -- DON'T promise a free bumper to customers.

There is a full page advertisement in NY times today about the Droid X and at the end they take a shot at the iphone:
"And most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls. You have a voice. And you deserve to be heard."

In sadder news the reason best buy stopped taking pre orders for the X is they have already sold out of their alotment they will get.
which means it will be a madhouse at the verizon stores tryign to get one :(
Which means i'll probably have to wait longer to get my new goddamn phone

Have they said what it will cost without the 2 year contract? I've had my original Droid since last November (or so) and signed a 2 year then.
The X looks badass, but I really don't want to spend $4-500 on a freakin phone. :(
not sure...when i upgraded to the droid last year, my every-2-year deal wasn't up yet but i got the $199 +2 year contract by buying it online...i'm hoping i can do that again...if not, i may wait for a 4g droid which will probably come next year
