I definitely subscribe to the theory that while it may have originated in the Riot Act era, it sounds like the version we have heard has the slicker production and feel of ITW/Backspacer era. Also gives off a No Code-era Eastern vibe (I think someone had mentioned it as being like an upbeat Long Road).
It is amazing the good stuff that they keep hidden away from us! Hopefully, the unhappiness about the leak of the song is because they are planning on getting it out officially (and soon).

I agree, and the thing about Riot Act is... go listen to it, Ed's singing is very... bland I would say, for him. It was sort of like he either just woke up, had just smoked a pack of cigs, was hungover, or just felt absolutley no need to show emotion. But this song actually makes him sound a little cheerful. I would be surprised if this recording came from the Riot Act sessions.

Not exactley. There has been a website up for awhile now, Monkeywrenchrecords.com which never had anything more than a home page with a logo on it. Monkey Wrench Records is what Pearl Jam calls their record label, since they are now independent. People had been sort of keeping an eye on the website for awhile. Apparently at some point yesterday I think, the song appeared there, but it seems that someone was trying to share it with one other person, on behalf of the band's managment, but didn't realize that the site was open to the public. The site has since had a password protection put on it, but basically, that's how it went down. This wasn't really supposed to get out it seems, but it seems like they have decided, oops, its out there, we're not gonna let the fans talk about how to get it, but once they have it, if they wanna talk about it, thats okay.

+1. The second half of that song brought tears to my eyes, and that's just not something that happens. The last line and the way it is sung, "I'm soaring and darling....You'll be the one that I can need" and then "our future's paved with better days" just makes me think about how much I love my wife and how lucky I am to have her.

+1. The second half of that song brought tears to my eyes, and that's just not something that happens. The last line and the way it is sung, "I'm soaring and darling....You'll be the one that I can need" and then "our future's paved with better days" just makes me think about how much I love my wife and how lucky I am to have her.
Intro sure sounds like Wasted Reprise.
