If the ump is saying he missed the bag, then call it an error and at least give him the no hitter.

I wish they could. Fucking bullshit. I am fired up about this. Fucking umpires.
  • Unfuckingbelievable. As a life long Tigers and baseball fan, I am disgusted.

Something had to be done about these umps and sports officiating in general

    Very true. He is great.
  • I hope the ump (I'm not speaking his name) stays in Detroit for tomorrows series finale vs Cleveland like he normlly would and the fans just give it to him all game. No physical violence because it is just a game, just non stop verbal abuse.

I'm staying tuned to hear Leyland

That's his job. He better stay there. I would be pretty upset at MLB if they took him off the series. I hope he is behind home plate. I would boo him after every pitch.

The ump's pretty much gonna wanna kill himself when he sees the video.

I don't think they're gonna make him do another one in Detroit, he's a target.

Still, how the hell do you make that call; even if he might have been just safe I would have called him out, but in this situation, he was clearly out by about a step. Bad week for umpiring.

but... but... it would ruin the tradition of the game...

but... but... it would slow down the game...

I guess if the people who run the league like the tradition of blown calls, and extended arguments over those blown calls instead of quickly getting the call right, then no pro-replay argument will get anywhere.

    it is getting pretty bad.

i love the argument... we'll if the ump is consistant on both sides with his strike zone it's ok. NO, if he calls a ball a strike 20 times in one game, he is WRONG 20 times.

I'm a diehard Yankee's fan even if this happened to the redsox, it would have hurt my heart, i hate a badcall.
in the 9th inning of a perfect game, good grief.

I say screw tradition; sports evolve over time, and right now, instant replay is needed.
