Don't be so modest. You didn't just "study the environmental sciences and write essays on it" you "excelled at and wrote incredible papers" on environmental studies. ;)

You have an amazing way with words.

yeah i have and it was exciting. i had a boner the entire time doing research on things like trees and salamanders.

and this book you have coming out... printed on what exactly? ;)

You and Heidi pooling your brilliant logic? Maybe I should kill myself for being a hypocrite... Oh wait, I never said I don't use resources. In fact, I said all life competes for them. But humans could do it a whole lot better, they are just so full of apathy, they won't. If I had a choice of product, it would have been human flesh, but I didn't get a choice. It isn't my company. However, I can tell you that when given a choice, I always choose recycled goods. I also recycle every single thing I can and like I said, I try to consume local organic sustainable food as much as possible. I also write to try and educate people on appreciating the environment, so maybe a tree will forgive me if I can convince 100 or a 1,000 humans to rethink their daily choices and maybe even save a few down the road. It's a game of balance, but at least I play, rather then mock those who care.

Oh, and for the record, I never even watched the video.

rather then mock those who care? then? man, that doesn't even make sense. ;)

I never said you never used resources... i'm saying it's fairly hypocritical of you to say that it's more pathetic to cry about a dead human rather than a dead tree and then actually be someone who has a book published on aforementioned dead tree... it's also hypocritical of you to say "Even when forest are "replanted" it is a cold, compromised version of the diverse ecosystem that once existed." when you are partly responsible for that forest getting replanted... be like me saying all fish should be free to roam in rivers and the sea and then buy shares in a fish farm... kinda. ish.

I watched it on mute... I could see them wailing though. That was embarrassing enough.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

That is such a cop out excuse for people who really don't care to not ever get involved and help. Well, gee, it's so hypocritical of me to eat food and use paper, that I can't suggest there might be a better way. Guess what, I am comfortable with my level of hypocrisy because I do my best to offset it in other ways. I donate money and my time and my art to help these causes. I support green industries. I ride my bike whenever possible. What do you do?

I suppose everyone who uses a resource should just shut up and go about their business. That ought to solve our problems.

to be honest i lost all respect for you the minute you hit reply on that post with your 'than/then' fuck up.

anyway, clearly this is serious stuff for you... so i'll answer... i do quite a few of the above things. I cycle a lot, i buy recycled products for everything that we can... i have a compost bin... my wife grows herbs... we bought a car last year that is in the lowest emissions bracket for the UK...

    we try.

but what we don't do is cry about a fucking tree... nor do I act like a ecological saviour and try and lambast people who find someone crying about a tree slightly pathetic... nor do i blame all of humanity for what would appear to be a problem caused by a small percentage of that humanity... nor do i display a pompousness as to what other people might do or not do in regards to the environment and its care...

everyone uses a resource... but sitting sobbing about a murdered branch isnt going to do fuck all to restore those resources... if anything the salt in that wailing hairy womans tears will probably have killed about 4 tiny arachnids that were quite happily living in the soil just before she plonked her braless arse down on the ground.

You should probably focus on your own sentences. Plenty of mistakes. But nice try to discredit me over so little an issue. And you don't diplay pompousness? You're the most arrogant person on this board. Also, you keep going back to the wailing hippies that I never even watched, when clearly, I am talking about a much larger issue. But that's alright, they are easy prey. Like punching orphans. I suppose you would support their stance if they were slitting throats instead of crying? Somehow, I don't think you would. I think you know that I'm not the type to sit around crying about something. For the sake of all things legal, I can't mention the things I have done. However, I also know that not everyone is willing to react the same way I do.

And you are right, I take environmental causes seriously. I can't think of a more important cause. There isn't a more important cause.

The unintentional comedy factor of hippies is outstanding. :D

    Several things I have observed:

    1) Don't do drugs while post-editing a video
    2) Focus your crying on clear cut forests, not a tree that died of natural causes somewhere in Georgia.
    3) Don't do drugs while post-editing a video

If anything, maybe a few of us will think a little more about what we can personally do to help out and preserve this unique planet (no matter what our independent views are).

Agreed ... I am firmly in the pro-hippies camp, by and large. Still, good material.

At some point, I am going to take their bongs away and teach them to use an AR-15.

Well, I'd let them have their bongs back at night once the daily mission was accomplished. I'm not a total hard-ass. An army of hippy commandos, now that's frightening! :)

Might not even need the weaponry ... Their innate powers of repulsion might be sufficient. One of my friends in Vancouver says it best: "People should not smell organic".
