I knew it was going to be a crazy day when the first thing I saw in the morning was a squirrel dragging a peanut butter jar up into a tree. I mean damn, if that squirrel could score a jar of Skippy then surely I could hook up a ticket for MSG1. I got shut out of the 10c pre-sale and couldn't do the TM pre-sale so I was pretty much out of luck. I decided to troll the forum here yesterday to see if there were any singles. Ended up chatting with Amy who agree to sell me her spare 10c ticket - face value of course. I told her at the time, "I think we're gonna win the lottery." I don't know why I said it - I just did.

She won the damn lottery. 10th row, center. Unbelievable show. I thought the set list, energy, band and crowd were great. It was a religious experience for me. I gotta say, I teared up on "Low Light" and during the dedications too. Wow.

I hung out with some touring fans after the show. The reaction from most seemed to be "meh" and were either complaining about their lousy 10c seats or low energy. I think its just one of those things that happens when you start following a band from city to city in the fan club. There's a kind of perspective that's lost. You get used to having great, cheap seats so when they're not available in a megalopolis, you're disappointed. When you've heard that same song ten nights in a row but have never heard your favorite rarity, you're disappointed. In a way you get spoiled because you're lucky enough to see so many shows.

It's an odd thing, can you love a band too much? It happened to me when I ended up running band website for some guys I idolized. After 20 or so shows, some of the magic started to fade a bit. Some songs didn't mean as much and I couldn't understand how people could say X show was amazing when it was mediocre at best. But if you're lucky, you'll end up getting reset at a show that really connect with you. Sounds like for a lot of them it was Boston.

For me, MSG 1 is a musical highlight. I've only seen 3 Pearl Jam shows ever and each one had its moments, but this show - on the floor with a ticket I didn't have that morning, in an amazing seat from a woman I had never met before she showed up holding a lotto envelope. Magical.

    Thanks guys. Thanks 10c.
    You're a lucky duck :D
We kept watching you guys from up in 106... I had the pleasure of taking her to her first show (Philly 1) and she definitely had the bug... Glad you guys had a great time and my son still wanted to switch tickets with you

  • Wow. A great show, of my now 11 its probably top 3 or 4. Great setlist diversity of some ones that arent played so much with the hits. Energy was damn good, I got back floor which was elevated on some risers, perfect. Next to some awesome people who were from Saskatchewan, their first time in NYC for the shows, and Mary got to see Indifference for the first time!! Just an awesome show, hoping tonight can somehow top it. Maybe if they OPEN WITH OCEANS PLEASE!

I met some cool 10 C members at irish times before the show i was guy with LBC shirt. Soon as i got to my seat sec 333 ( was shut out of 10 presale ) i texted This place is ready to explode to some friends what a difference compared to newark you could feel the energy of the crowd before show . This show for me might have been my best Pj show ever the boys rocked out and so did the garden Ii wish i was going tonight. I rocked so friggin hard last night
  • amazing time...energy of MSG was great and thanks to 10 C and despite my high number I was the closest I've ever been to stage (section 111) ! Actually got to see the band's faces - awesome stuff. SOLAT, Unthought Known, I got Id were highlights for me...also got to meet some really nice fans -
    can't wait for tonight!

loved the show ... this was a good one for the fans who love the rockers ... i think someone wrote greatest hits show and i don't see how that can be with no betterman, no daughter, no wishlist, no a bunch of songs ...

anyhoo - thanks 10C for great seats as usual ...

i think the energy in the crowd was good but it could have been off the charts but i think the setlist wasn't really conducive to that .. like i posted in buffalo - the reality is that a significant portion of the crowd won't know breakerfall, comatose or army reserve ... proof is the biggest participation was either DTE or Small Town ... either way - i had a great time as usual and this was my first time hearing love reign o'er me ... how the dude can sing that still is pretty fucking awesome ...

i'm guessing more slow/rocker mix tonite ... i'm guessing thin air is gonna make an appearance ...

Was in section 234. Not great seats but it was all about being amongst the energy. The band was phenomonal as always. Set list was good. Opening w/Sometimes was awesome. Saw Low Light in Hartford but love that song live so it was great to hear it again. But love reign o'er me was the highlight for me. Can't get over Ed's voice in that song w/those belts. Wow!

  • Great time last night. They sound great and I LOVE the venue! But I agree w/ some of the posts earlier... set was a normal show. The highlights for many of the people posting have been done in the area before (between philly and NY).

The End- Lukin- JB on strings was typical in 09. Love Regin, Miracles, Indifference, Leash (Meadowlands 06 and MSG 08) were all played in 08.

I am glad that Stone got a crack at Mankind... sounded better at MSG than Spectrum. Army Reserve was a great surprise... Have not heard it since the Avocado tour and it has totally grown on me.

The classics were a blast, and PJ once again proved that they are the best band touring!

As an aside, I was one of the guys in crowd wearing a Flyers jersey, and I am a big sports fan. I can take abuse from anyone, and last night was all in good fun. Rangers, Devils, and Islander fans all showed their love and hate... it was all good stuff. But seriously guys, MSG can't put the hockey game on in the concourse before the show started. They can't find Vs. Ranger fans have to step up for the sport of hockey, and do something about that. Only way to grow the sport is to showcase it... If you have bars in the concourse, put on live sports!

Wow great show. Setlist was great and the guys were really on, think the crowd really helped after disappointing crowd in Newark. This was right up with the Hartford gig. The Black Keys were cool. They were pretty entertaining.
The PJshow was good. The crowd was fantastic.Much better than Newark.
    My hightlights were:

Animal (Always spectacular to experience it live)
I Got ID (One of my favoirtes)
    Insignificance
    Unthought Known
    Do the Evolution
1st Encore was all great! (Speacially SOLAT!!! Everyone went crazy for this one including me ;) )
    Jeremy,Alive and ofcourse Indifference.

Jeff, Mike and Stone seemed to be having fun...specially STONE!! He was head banging on Newark and also last night. Awesome to see him in great spirit.

Hope to see more for MSG 2! :)

  • Amazing. Can't afford tix for MSG2, so I hoped this show would be a stand-alone and damn, was it. LROM and Alive gave me goosebumps, Just Breath brought me to tears, and Indifference as a closer?? WOW! My fan club seats were in section 53 and everyone in the section was singing and rocking out--I felt like I was at a humongous karaoke bar, lol. The energy level was definitely higher than it was in '06 and the band really, really seemed to be enjoying themselves. McCready was on FIYAH! running all over the stage, throwing picks, dueling with Booooooooooooom, just having fun. Heard "Leash" in Philly last year, but it was great hearing it at the Garden surrounded by all those NY attitudes. Also heard Stone sing Mankind at Jones Beach in...whenever that was..but he sounded much better and the crowd was way more into it this time around. Loved Ed's Surf NYC shirt too :) Hail hail the lucky ones, I refer to those attending tonight's show--ENJOY!
