I was shut out of fanclub tickets, but still a great show. I'm not sure what folks mean about Ed's voice or the sound - it was all good from Section 303, which is the worst seat I've had a PJ show in a very long time. The crowd didn't seem as loud to me as either of the MSG08 shows. The floor was definitely rocking out (especially compared to Newark). Kind of a strange crowd - half the people nearby were intensely into the show and singing along, and then others were sitting a lot and I noticed many people leaving out early too?! The couple next to me left in the middle of Porch?
Highlights for me were the opening run of Breakerfall-Last Exit-Animal-The Fixer, the Insignificance-Unthought Known-DTE combo, and that closing run from Love Reign-State-Once-Porch-Jeremy-Leash... just really good momentum in those portions of the show to me.
The energy level of the band is amazing though - nobody stops moving.
Now on to tonight, with TenClub seats - I know tonight I'll be doing my part to make the Garden shake!0 -
I knew it was going to be a crazy day when the first thing I saw in the morning was a squirrel dragging a peanut butter jar up into a tree. I mean damn, if that squirrel could score a jar of Skippy then surely I could hook up a ticket for MSG1. I got shut out of the 10c pre-sale and couldn't do the TM pre-sale so I was pretty much out of luck. I decided to troll the forum here yesterday to see if there were any singles. Ended up chatting with Amy who agree to sell me her spare 10c ticket - face value of course. I told her at the time, "I think we're gonna win the lottery." I don't know why I said it - I just did.
She won the damn lottery. 10th row, center. Unbelievable show. I thought the set list, energy, band and crowd were great. It was a religious experience for me. I gotta say, I teared up on "Low Light" and during the dedications too. Wow.
I hung out with some touring fans after the show. The reaction from most seemed to be "meh" and were either complaining about their lousy 10c seats or low energy. I think its just one of those things that happens when you start following a band from city to city in the fan club. There's a kind of perspective that's lost. You get used to having great, cheap seats so when they're not available in a megalopolis, you're disappointed. When you've heard that same song ten nights in a row but have never heard your favorite rarity, you're disappointed. In a way you get spoiled because you're lucky enough to see so many shows.
It's an odd thing, can you love a band too much? It happened to me when I ended up running band website for some guys I idolized. After 20 or so shows, some of the magic started to fade a bit. Some songs didn't mean as much and I couldn't understand how people could say X show was amazing when it was mediocre at best. But if you're lucky, you'll end up getting reset at a show that really connect with you. Sounds like for a lot of them it was Boston.
For me, MSG 1 is a musical highlight. I've only seen 3 Pearl Jam shows ever and each one had its moments, but this show - on the floor with a ticket I didn't have that morning, in an amazing seat from a woman I had never met before she showed up holding a lotto envelope. Magical.
Thanks guys. Thanks 10c.0 -

My 16th show and it was a great one. 10C seats sec 8 row E on the aisle between ed and stone. Not too shabby, but the girl in front of me was 4 feet tall so security let her stand on her chair all night making her 7 feet tall, not cool. I'm tall enought that i managed, but the girl behind me was shit out of luck. That's my only negative to a great show.
I don't care what anyone says that is a great setlist, i didn't get to cross any songs off my list, but that's fine with me. the hits are the hits and will always be my favorites as well. tonight we will get some rarities, i just hope my legs and voice hold out.Randall's Island 9/29/96, Continental Arena 9/8/98, MSG 9/10/98, Jones Beach 8/23/00, 8/24/00, 8/25/00, Nassau Coliseum 4/30/03, MSG 7/8/03, 7/9/03, Continental Arena 6/1/06, 6/3/06, MSG 6/24/08, 6/25/08, Spectrum 10/30/09, 10/31/09, MSG 5/20/10, 5/21/10, PJ20 9/3/11, 9/4/11, Charlottesville 10/29/13, Charlotte 10/30/13, Global Citizen 9/26/15, Raleigh 4/20/16 :( Baltimore 3/28/20 :( Austin 9/18/23, 9/19/23, Forum 5/21/24, Baltimore 9/12/24, Fenway 9/17/24, Nashville 5/6/25, 5/8/250 -
Outstanding show as usual. I thought the main set was stellar - and I got to see some first timers (I Got Shit, Low Light, Breakerfall) - but the encores f'n blew me away. They were so locked in during that run of Love Reign O’er Me, State Of Love And Trust, Once, Porch, Jeremy, Leash, Mankind, Crazy Mary, I Believe In Miracles and Alive - just ridiculous. I've seen tons of bands live, but no one comes close to the energy, sound, varied setlist and overall show these guys put on. Top notch. Can't wait for them to try and top it tonight.0
