Seeing guys do things that nobody else can do is why most of us watch sports. Tiger has the ability to do things on the course that nobody else has done yet. I understand rooting for other guys to beat him but I don't understand refusing to appreciate greatness.

most of that stuff is from a looong time ago ... but it's not like he dominated the statistical categories ...

I got a good story....since this is the GOLF thread, even tho it seems like the TIGER thread...

back in the day, my mom (like most of the ladies ;) ) was a definite member of arnie's army....she had volunteered at a tournament in columbus, ohio (pre-memorial, I'm pretty sure)....everyone knew my mom as Ace, even tho her given name was lorraine....arnie hit a bad shot that struck my mom in the shoulder....the next day, the Columbus Dispatch has a big picture of my mom, pointing to her shoulder with the headline "Arnie Makes Hit With Ace":lol:

a month or so later, he sent her a putter in the mail. it hung in our rec room for years

another time, my dad, who was a traveling salesman, stopped to fix a flat tire of two black women in an early 60s cadillac. not to long after that, one of the first color TVs arrived at our house with a thank you note from mrs. nat king cole

I, on the other hand, have never met anyone famous.

    This is interesting ...

Photos show Tiger Woods may not have deserved a two-stroke penalty

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Tiger Woods was assessed a two-stroke penalty and received a mountain of criticism after taking an illegal drop on the 15th hole of Friday's Masters that sent the venerable tournament in chaos.

The question now, however, is whether he actually committed a violation at all, or instead was the victim of a false confession.

The Augusta Chronicle on Sunday printed two photos by staffer Michael Holahan of Woods' two chip shots from the 15th fairway. The first hit the flagstick and rolled into the water, forcing Woods to take a one-stroke penalty and then drop his ball "as nearly as possible" to his original location.

    ....

He's from an era where men of power could drink and whore themselves to an early grave and the media would never even think of reporting about it.

Now TMZ is a leading news source.

I said he has the ability to do things they can't. I didn't say he was right now. He's the best player in the world so far this season. It's not like he was flubbing around all week.

but that implies he is hitting shots other golfers can't hit ... which was never the case ...

either way - you're right in that he is playing amazing now ... no knock against his game ... but you're never gonna hear "couldn't happen to a nicer person" or "he's a great person" after any of tiger's wins ...
