tiger apologists ... hahaha ... i am pretty sure if this was sergio - i wouldn't be reading the same comments ...

Sergio wouldn't even be able to speak he would be crying so hard.

Not sure how I am being an apologist. I said I thought he would be dq'ed, I think their decision makes sense but it could have gone either way, I don't think he should have withdrawn and I would like to see him win this tournament, which is not going to happen. That is being an apologist?

He clearly made a mental error. If he was cheating or any player was cheating for that matter, they would not describe their cheating in exact detail an hour later on national TV.

I don't play golf ... but i've always underwood that they are suppose to report themselves for rule violations ... I guess its a gentlemen's thing.

Thing is, he clearly didn't realize he violated the rules. He should have known, but somehow didn't in the situation

thanks for proving my point ... re: sergio ...

not knowing the rules is not an excuse ... dustin johnson was dq'd from a major for something he didn't know and unintentionally did ... tiger signed an incorrect scorecard ... he should have been dq'd ... how they can point to intention is beyond me ... golf for all its ridiculous rules and traditions can be a joke ...

maybe apologist isn't the right word but i just find it a bit of a joke how people cheer for this guy no matter what and always give him a pass ...

I'm fine with hating Sergio

I agree that ignorance is not an excuse and they have stated that, clearly. But they are saying the fact they made a ruling prior to his comments made all the difference.

I just enjoy watching the best ever, simple as that and I don't give a shit who he fucks.

that's a lame reason ... it's clear this is favouritism at play here ...

yikes - i hope you don't think i don't like tiger because of who he fucks ... i can't stand him because he is a prick and he lacks the class of someone like a bubba watson or a plethora of golfers ...

On the literal interpretation there was no breach ...

2 yards is generally deemed sufficiently close. Right on the edge ... But acceptable.

As much as anyone dislikes the guy

He brings 'it' to golf. Love watching him and rooting for a grandstand finish tomorrow

His luck on 15th yesterday was terribly bad, but he's in the hunt

Ah the penalty makes it all make sense ?

Sure it does .... If he committed that offense he shouldn't be out there

I read the relaxation argument and didnt buy it

  • i cant see tiger winning. And again, on this board and elsewhere, people jumped the gun. Tiger would agree, winning tournaments means nothing. Its the majors that count. If he ends up winning a ton more events during this year and does this in the 3 other majors, no one would consider that a good or quality season, least of all Tiger himself. As he said himself, Winning erases everything, all doubt. And he cant win a major. hasnt for years. Remains to be seen if he ever will again.

And lets face it, the majors are what has driven him since day 1. It wasnt getting the most PGA tour victories that made him spend all day and night practicing puts. And we all know that. He didnt have 72 tour victories taped on his wall as a kid.

As Ive said since the scandal, something changed in tiger that day. It not only ruined his marriage, but it changed his perspective on life, and evidently took a huge toll on him mentally and his ability to win majors.

He flat out cant win a major.

Like clock work, you show up. As always you show your incredible sports knowledge. Why aren't we hearing stories about his personal life?

I do find it funny that you show up saying he's never going to win a major after he takes an 8 on a hole. Congrats, good call, genius.

Do us all a favor and go away
