"I think our group was warned once that we were out of position," Crenshaw said. "This isn't going to end up pretty, I don't think. I'm sick.

"He's 14 years old. When you get the wind blowing out here, believe me you're going to change your mind. I'm sorry, I'm a player. It's not easy to get around this golf course."

wtg augusta...pick on the 14 year old who's never played here...you invited him for the story he's giving you...don't bite the hand

Yeah after just seeing his interview with Tom Rinadl, I agree with that ya said before. I've never seen a pro given that penalty. Jim Nantz just said that the last time it happened was in the 2004 PGA Championship. Give the kid a warning first. I'm hoping for some bogeys from Leishman so the cut line moves. I think Guam is right on the line right now.

he was given 3 warnings but it still doesn't justify singling him out

Yeah, agreed. This kid really needs to make the cut and if he misses it, it needs to be by more than 1.

How the hell he saved a bogey is beyond me. That was unreal. Still in a great spot. A 70 would be strong.

Well, I wouldn't say he needs it. 1 or 2 back going into the weekend is just fine, but yeah, it would be nice. Both should be 3 woods off the tee.

Via Twitter, as it stands now, Tiger and Adam Scott would be paired together tomorrow. What a circus. So yeah, maybe he does need a birdie.

    Agreed.

As much as I want to hate Fowler, as much as I should hate Fowler for some reason I just can't. Seems like a good kid.

I think he's out. But the masters do have a couple options to keep him in.

Shit storm either way. If he's out, CBS loses quite a bit of cash.

Steve sands is saying it could be a 2 shot penalty. I can't see it in that rule

2 stroke penalty for ole Tiger

    Could make today very interesting.
    Nice shirt.

Wow, I'm very surprised. I hope he goes nuts and wins.

More fuel for the fire for tiger haters.

Basically an 8 on 15 after what could have easily been a 4

Going to be really really tough for him to make up 5

Surprised he got the 2 stroke penalty or surprised that he wasn't DQ'd?

His intensity and stoicism will be in full effect today.
He will most certainly use this controversy to fuel his fire.
    Nice shirt.

    tigger should DQ himself.
    plain and simple.
Otherwise he will be known as a cheater.

You are not alone with that thought, RoughMix.
Based on Tiger's thoughts after the round to Tom Rinaldi, he didn't drop the ball as close to the original shot as possible, he knowingly hit the ball in a position and from a distance in which he was looking to approve his approach.
Sure, we was given a 2 stroke penalty. I'm one of the biggest Tiger fans you'll ever meet. It's the Masters, and I'd love to see him win...all that being said, he should DQ himself. It's the right thing to to.
Personally, the vitriol from Brandel Chamblee is a tad over the top, but he is correct about the fellow pros and what they will chirp should he not do the right thing.
I'm not saying I agree with the ruling. But it is a gentleman's game, and this is not as black and white as misinterpreting the rule. And even though this isn't necessarily the new HD TV ruling, the intent on Tiger's 5th shot was to improve the shot - he said so himself.
