Thats way too early. people said the same thing last year and he didnt win a Masters. With Tiger, more so than any other player, the ONLY thing that matters is majors. If he aint winning them, he aint back. And he would tell us that if he were on this board. He could have a horrible rest of the year, and not win another major, and win few if any other tourneys. Would he still be a shoo in for player of the year then?

For me, the people who win the 4 majors this year are in the conversation for player of the year. If he doesnt win a major this year, he isnt in the conversation. Simple as that,

tiger's hopeful and optimistic statement about "wanting to be better than I was before" is just that, a hopeful and wishful statement. He's not as good as he once was. He flat out admits a new generation is in the game and is dominating. You really think Rory sits awake at night worrying about Tiger beating him by 7 strokes at a major? You have to be kidding me.
  • I also think as Ive said for years, you cant be as good as he once was, with the mindset he has now. There was a reason he was so ridiculously good. He spent every waking moment eating, breathing and playing golf. What the car crash and scandal I think taught him, was that there are things way more important than golf, like family, children, and integrity and honesty. If he's not spending all day at the range, like he used to, and its clear he's not, then he wont be as good. No one would.

I also think its clear if you asked him, what do you enjoy more spending time with family and your kids or playing golf. He'd say his family was more important. That would have never entered his thoughts back in 2000. And its clear he conducted his life as such back then.

    He;s changed

I can't imagine someone could type more nonsense if they tried. How the fuck do you know any of this? You really know nothing about Tiger and either do I. How the hell do you know what his training routine is?

And did he spend every waking moment eating, breathing and playing golf? I would imagine there are a couple hundred chicks that he piped that would disagree.

Maybe he is spending more time now that there is less stress in life.

All this is assumptions. Everything you said and everything I have said. But the fact of the matter the dude is playing some good fucking golf, and is the favorite to win the masters. Will he win? Who knows, golf is a brutal game to win, but he is playing better golf than he has played in a very very long time.

Comical. If 4 guys win one tournament this year and they happen to be major, they had a better year than Tiger who already has 3 wins before April?

    Dude, just give it up.

For real. The guy talks about his personal life as little as any athlete in the world, but this guy knows how much time he spends with his kids.

this pretty much shows what your fan base really care about ... it's why people overlooked what was painfully obvious in lance armstrong ... it doesn't matter if your a prick ... just as long as you win ... it's why we idolize athletes and not teachers and community volunteers ...

either way - tiger is not a shoo-in for POY ... yeah - he's won 3 events but from what i gather - it's a points system and majors are weighted heavier ... we'll see how he does at augusta shortly ... if he continues to putt lights out and he can keep the ball in the fairway - he's a clear cut favourite now ...
  • eddieceddiec Posts: 3,880
If Tiger can't control it off the tee at Augusta he's in trouble. The courses he's been playing have been way more forgiving to the errant tee shot- still very possible to par. Those mistakes at Augusta become bogeys very fast. At Augusta you have to shape the ball on almost every driving hole. Tiger is lucky when he hits it on the fairway on a straight drive but if he puts like he did this past weekend he will be in contention. That was unreal. Probably the best putting by anyone I've seen in a while.

  • you dont watch his press conferences? for years he's publicly said things over and over. I lost my way. Golf isnt the most important thing to me anymore. My family is. I spend alot more time with my kids than on the range. Its more thrilling to spend time with my kids than on the range.

This isnt stuff I MADE UP. Its stuff he said in press conferences.

Common sense dictates you spend less time practicing something, you wont be as good at it. Thats even true for someone like Jimmy Page or Frusciante.

I applaud him for realizing theres something more important. He;s said it in countless interviews and press conferences.
  • that ad is absurd on numerous levels. Tiger clearly doesnt believe that. Buddhism which he professes great love for, and his father and mother, you really think they instilled in him that "winning takes care of everything"? Again, that may have been his MO for over a decade, actually his whole live up to the car crash. But he clearly doesnt believe that now.
He was winning way back when and was unhappy and lying and cheating. It didnt take care of anything.

That said, the ad does suggest exactly what I said. For Tiger, more so than any other player in golf, the ONLY thing that matters is majors. if he aint winning them, he aint winning. Simple.

You can debate tiger woods here all you like, the man is a legend, plain as day.

and i'll be rooting for him at Augusta to really show the world he is back to his very best.

+1, never stopped hoping he would get back to #1. I don't care what he does off the golf course, he is the best golfer ever

They said one-day passes are going as high as $7,000 and a four day pass is marked at $10K. Even the practice round passes are going for $1K.

I guess with the NCAA Final Four in Atlanta, tix are going for record prices.
