If you put Stone's riffs in a Creed song - it would suck.
Jeff's bass in Oasis - it would suck
Matt's beat's in a techno song would suck.
Mike's solo in a Nicklecrap song would suck.
Boom in Bronski Beat would just be plain sad.
But put them all together and they could cover songs by any of these bands and kill them - or create the amazing songs we love them for.
what kind of analysis is this? name one riff for me that sounds good over a creed song......
that is a pretty poor logic. how would a talented addition to any band sound bad?
ps
boom sounds bad in pearl jam0 -

The point I was trying to make it that all these bands suck balls - big time and no addition could save them.0 -

While I love Mike; the EVH bashers forget that Eddie Van Halen wrote all the tunes in VH. Hacks in guitar stores are trying to bust out the riffs to Ain't Talkin' About Love, Unchained, Everybody Wants Some, Panama, Spanish Fly, Summer Nights, 5150 etc. to this day.
Eddie Van Halen maybe a monumental ass, but the guy wrote some of the most memorable riffs around and put them in the framework of good (classic) songs and was a tremendous soloist. EVH is not a shredder, he simply is a great guitar player.
When Mike McCready has amassed the same amount of songwriting credits and memorable, stand the test of time songs that EVH has on Van Halen 1 alone, maybe you EVH haters can bring something more to the table. EVH influenced more than one generation of guitar players not only as a "shredder" but as a song writer too. He also pioneered equipment, tone etc. This isn't even a debate. While Mike works great in Pearl Jam and adds to the greatness that is the band he is not on the same level as Eddie Van Halen.0 -

I love Mike McCready (I got the full on 2 minute death stare at Leeds), and I still voted for Ed.
Eddie Van Halen 50.73% (5,518 votes)
Mike McCready 49.27% (5,359 votes)
This is closer than it should be.Bristow 05132010 to Amsterdam 2 061320180 -

Mike is now in the lead.
I voted like ten time, then noticed it was saying " we've already counted your vote."
So I don't know if voting more than once is allowed.0 -
I actually think Eddie is better but I prefer Mike's style more. I voted for Mike.

To me, Eddie just sounds like typical 80's music. If he made a CD now, it would sound like it was recorded in 1985.0

Both badass -but my fave band is PJ so gotta give the edge to Mike.www.cluthelee.com0

i understand all the hype over EVH and he is great but I truly think McCready has become one of the greats. I give my nod to Mike McCready. His feel on stage is unreal along with his tone and technical ability.0
