I'll be in the house tonight (PJ shirt to be determined haha) I've only seen MMJ open for PJ and in a 50% full MSG so something tells me tonight will really be a different experience with the band. Dig the new album a lot.

SamJam, my wife similarly said that she was in a trance. The whole experience really does pull you in. Jim has a powerful presence on stage, and when he hits those high notes, it's special. I might try to find a way to get down there tonight, but if not, have fun everyone!

Another great show yesterday night. It doesn't get much better than 2 nights in a row of these guys! I think I enjoyed the overall experience more night 1, being front row, but enjoyed last night's setlist more. And it was great to meet the wonderful Lisa & Cav last night! I'd say I hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did, but I'm positive that is the case :)

Also can't stop thinking about how freaking cool it was of them to do a two night stand in Detroit. Not many artists, especially awesome ones, would do such a thing (last two+ night stands I can remember in the city were Garth Brooks and Kid Rock..oy...), and I hope they enjoyed the stay. Detroit is a cool, cool place with lots to do and even more heart. Glad they made it out! Already can't wait to see them live again!

We had a fabulous time, samjam! And I am happy that we finally got to meet

I loved the show, I can totally relate to the trance comment above, and it also happened to me last night. I had that the last time at the Fillmore as well, at the Qotsa show when they played A Song For the Dead. Crazy stuff, when music transports you into places like that. I loved the setlist. I am not super familiar with them (yet), and I thought it was great that I heard some of the songs that I know and love  I would love to see them in an outdoor setting one day, maybe at a beach. Great band.

Looking at the set list, i think last night was the better show. But I'm not sad at all that I went to night one; there was an incredible energy that kept building until the very end. Can't wait to see them again

I have to agree with the previous post and say that both of the My Morning Jacket shows in Detroit were just INCREDIBLE!!!

    image

We started off with the Soundcheck party & picked up an AMAZING poster by James Flames, signed by the band!!

    image

Spent the afternoons hanging out with GREAT FRIENDS!!!

    image

    image

The shows were UNBELIEVEABLE... Loved the night 1 opener choice...
"Believe" from the new album is just KILLER!!
I finally got to hear "Old September Blues" at the soundcheck & also got "War Begun" & "Easy Morning Rebel" for the first time!
Other outstanding performances were "O is the One That's Real"... "Tropics"..."Victory Dance"... and my personal favorite song "Steam Engine"

great pics and great poster. pj not touring the US has given me a chance to see more of my other favorite band. lucky i'll get to see them 4 times this year. they're not as crazy on stage as they were in 200-2003 but musically they're at a new level. i'm still thinking about the cleveland show 2+ weeks ago.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

What happens at the beginning of October Robby (asking because you're local to me, so am wondering if this is something I need to know!)? This is a huge thread - don't know where to look to answer this!

Here's a selection of wonderful man bags that you may find useful for your next round of MMJ concerts. I'm sure that they have delightful pockets for all of the other things that you have in your hand.

Don't think I could pull off the floral prints huh...
How about something in a nice plaid or even a paisley???

I think I would've been fine, if it wasn't for the BIG bottle of Bloody Mary mix!!
We dropped by Vivio's for lunch & had to try one of their Bloody Marys!

My Morning Jacket / Columbus night #1 was a pretty special evening!!
It was really cool to see Carl come out and sit in with the opening band, Floating Action...he didn't just do one song either, I'm gonna say he was there for most of their set!!

    image

    image

The show itself was OUTSTANDING, opening with "Mahgeetah" was a little surprising, but always a GREAT performance.

    image

The highlight of this show for me would have to be "Carried Away" into "Steam Engine"

I think we got a new song last night too...

    image

I don't know where it's from but they played "Nothing To It" and the stats on setlist.fm say that it has only been played one other time...
that being the 3rd show from One Big Holiday 2015

    image

Loved the Jim James solo/acoustic take on "Bermuda Highway" that kicked off one of the BEST encore sets I've seen in a long time, and closing the show with "Lay Low" was the PERFECT way to wrap up an UNBELIEVABLE evening!!

    Oh yeah...
    image

we got another AWESOME poster by Columbus artist Clinton Reno too!!
SUPER STOKED to see what they have planned for Night #2 :rock_on:

You know anything about this "Nothing To It" song??

Is it a cover or original song?

My Morning Jacket / Columbus night #1 was a pretty special evening!!
It was really cool to see Carl come out and sit in with the opening band, Floating Action...he didn't just do one song either, I'm gonna say he was there for most of their set!!

    Oh shit. floating action opened?
my friend plays bass in that band....
    that is so cool....
Sounds like you are having a great time.... enjoy the upcoming shows.

I'll see what they have to offer at the merch booth tonight!!
I've got 3 more shows this week, then taking a little break until August.
Definitely doing Kansas City and Red Rocks,
I may have to skip the St. Louis show now,
won't know if I can make that one for sure until the end of July!!
