Really wish the Beacon shows were on a different week. My wife and I host thanksgiving so I will have a house full of people that week. Timing couldn't be worse for me. That said, I will get to one or two of those shows (most likely friday and/or saturday when they're announced).

Charlottesville, Philly, Merriweather next week. It feels like the chicago run was years ago. haha

Yeah those Beacon shows are terrible placed. Unless you live in the immediate area, I doubt many people will be coming in for this one.

Thanksgiving and the night before are about as big of a family week/couple days as there is. Nobody I even know in NYC will be around those days to stay with.

Still holding out for a philly show.

I know the code is for their Archive series...
but I sure would like to see My Morning Jacket start up a bootleg program similar to the one Pearl Jam has used!!
Would love to have soundboard recordings of the MMJ shows I attend!!!
    :rock_on:

Finally used my download code tonight.

Now i know how some Pearl Jam fans feel when they don't know what show to download

I went with Red Rocks 2012 night 2
I was at that show. Amazing. I love the bootleg. But I have problems with the download. makesno difference for some reason is misnumbered and is the last song when imported into iTunes. Regardless, such a great show.

Agree that those shows are terribly placed. Seeing MMJ at the beacon would be amazing, but going to NYC thanksgiving week isn't logical for me (or most people). When I got the email from roll call, I was "all-in" until I looked at a calender. I caught MMJ at Madison square garden on New Year's Eve and it was one of my favorite shows ever. Seeing them in NY again is a priority.

I noticed the same thing. And looking at last night's set (from Charlottesville), it looked awfully short. Great set, but 21 songs? Doesn't that seem a bit short for a band with as extensive a catalog as these guys? I don't know how many songs they are rehearsing for the tour, and they are playing off Waterfall pretty extensively, but man, I would hope they can at least churn out 25-27 songs. I know they extend songs and jam quite a bit. It's just been a minor quibble for what is one of the best live bands out there.

Either way, looking forward to the Boston shows in November.

The sets are averaging 19-21 songs a night. 2 hours to 2 hours 15 minutes of play time. I went to both nights in Minneapolis. Night one: 19 songs. Night two: 21. I think the length of the shows has a lot to do with the venues they are playing and that they have opening acts.

you should never expect a band to play over two hours. Anything beyond 90 minutes is a gift.
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
  • dr122931dr122931 Posts: 461
I think Jim's voice struggles the longer they play. I'm not complaining, but sometimes it's evident on bootlegs. I know OBH was a special occasion where they played 3 shows in 4 days with lots of improvs and covers, but there are a few moments on the bootlegs where his voice goes out.
I'm going to red rocks, last night of the leg of the tour, and I'm hoping for an epic blowout like they did a few years ago. I love their original music, but random covers have always made MMJ shows exciting.

Regardless, they are the best live band out there aside from PJ.

Just got tickets for the St. Louis show, and for some strange reason I almost sat this year out. Would have been a big mistake on my part. Definitely my #2 band behind PJ. Just got back on a Jacket kick after some time away from listening. I've been hooked, the new material sounds awesome live (on videos) can't wait for the show

    cannot wait until Saturday......

I should've got the XPN Fest 3-day pass for $65 instead of paying $75/80-ish for only MMJ. Gonna be a helluva day/night. I'll hit the pool in the morning, then bbq, then make it over to Spruce Street for some hammocking and beer drinking, ferry, boom, St. Vincent then MMJ.

Didn't get the 3 day pass either but I like the lineup. Would like to see Hop Along--the more I hear, the more I like.

Gonna golf in morning then head down around 3. Weather looks great. Cannot wait.

Anyone goto an XPN festival before at Wiggins Park? I dont want to spend $60 to watch the daytime show but does anyone know if you can still soak in the sights and sounds from the sides of barricades (I assume there are barricades)? The hopeful plan is to take our tailgate chairs and sit by the waterfront and listen to the XPN fest before the Susquehanna show??

2nd row pit tomorrow, cant wait. Hoping for a long 2 hr + show.

Yeah, ya definitely can. I just don't know what they have barricaded and what they do not. But the people with their boats at the marina right there are probably the luckiest peeps - hang out on your boat and take in the tunes from all surroundings.

But, yeah, I'd say you should be able to hear it from some point between the aquarium/ferry launch and the gates to the Susq Center pretty easily.

    Thanks for the info @Jearlpam!
Just curious I'm considering going to the wiggins park show now:
Does anyone have the XPN Membership code to share. If so please PM me. I read on ticketfly.com "Maximum four tickets at the XPN Member price with code" and i only need two for me and ms.'s
Shot in the dark here folks!

And if not, what is the minimum amount you have to donate to get the code?

MYXPNFEST will get you a ticket for $30 for a single day, $75 for 3-day.

And if you pledge $25/month you'll get two go-anywhere passes for the 3 days. Not worth it, though, in my opinion. Or you can always contact them later and reduce your pledge (I did this last year).
