I'm really bummed that I cannot be in Mexico for their run of shows. A great looking, relaxing, fun resort, coupled with MMJ playing everynight sounds amazing. And then, seeing this quote.....
We'll probably play most of our catalog. We've got enough music where we don't have to do any repeats. Every night will be completely different, and we can play deep cuts and throw some covers in. It's going to be really awesome.
.....makes it even worse. Way to pour salt in the wound, Yim!!

I've seen them 4 times. The first 3 shows were unfuckingbelievable and then the last show was good but man was that Dylan tour a major dissapointment. I was truly hoping for some collaboration with Wilco and Dylan. I can't wait for MMJ to come around next summer.

Really? I think Circuital is pretty good, but LB has better stuff. Maybe I'm just think more relative to their more recent catalogs. Circuital is the weakest MMJ album since Tennessee Fire and LB is probably the best PJ since Riot Act.

I love the songs live from Circ but as a studio album it's alright. Every one of their albums got better until this one. Kind of stayed flat or dipped below with Evil Urges. A very underrated one IMO.

I agree about EU. I think it could use some trimming in the middle, but the good stuff is way better than everything on Circuital other than the title track and Wonderful. The only weakness with EU is the 5 song run in the middle stays kinda mellow for too long. I don't think any of those tunes are bad though.

I love a lot of Evil Urges but think they should have kept a few of the tunes for b-sides. I know a lot ofpeople dislike Librarian, but it is one of my favorites!

no i like lb. and i think lb might be pj's best since binaural...but their albums since binaural have not been their best.
i think the difference is mmj are hovering around their peak right now (or maybe they're at their plateau). kind of where pj was a little over a decade ago. so while this may not better than their albums since tf, it's still a fucking great album in my opinion. i think everything since tf has been great.

fucking LOVE Librarian...it's kind of like their "tangerine" imo.
I listened to the 25 minute Dondante from capital theatre tonight. It shocks me how good it is every time. And I was there live.
Dude I was at the 3rd night and down the street at the Mexican bar people were talking about it before the show and I was so posses I missed it. Although the All Night Long cover was a freakin blast ha.

I had tix for 3rd night but had to sell them. Victory Dance intro is amazing.
VD was the first song I heard from them live down in Charlottesville. At the time in 2011 I had only ever heard One Big Holiday and when I heard the intro I was like wtf did I get myself into. Btw I need to start a thread for everyone hitting Mexico.

I was at that show! Third row (person) center. Show #4 of 8 for me. Band was great but the crowd sucked. Set was short too.
Lightning Bolt is better than Circuital. But Z and It Still Moves are right up there with PJ's best stuff.

It's a shame that MMJ may be at their peak, because I still think they are criminally underrated and unknown. I feel like a lot of people have no idea who they are. Christ, Jim played a solo show here in Portland this summer and there were about 150 people there.

Ok, finally got around to figuring this out... 14 times!
First proper show, 6/20/08 at Radio City! What a first show!
12/31/08 -MSG NYE
10/19-22/10 - T3 -It Still Moves/Z/Evil Urges
12/14/11 - MSG
7/28/12 - Newport
8/19/12 - Brooklyn
12/27-29/12 - Port Chester
12/31/12 -Boston
1/2/13 - Asbury Park Show for Sandy
7/26/13 - Hoboken Americanarama
So pretty much not a stinker in the bunch!
Also, I could have seen them open up for Foo Fighters at Hammerstein Ballroom in July 2003, but I had never heard of them, so I stayed at the bar across the street to drink (regret!)
And I only went in to see them open for PJ once in 2006 (Hartford).
But we're going to Mexico!

if there is any band that deserves to be huge, it is mmj. but still kinda cool that they've remained under the radar, for the most part, for as long as they have.
in my opinion, this is the best band in the world at the moment. --after pearl jam, of course! of course! i'm always amazed at how many people are not familiar with them.

no doubt better than lb. and, of course, it's leaps and bounds better than riot act.
Exactly. Circuital is very forgettable to me.
