As much as I am (obviously) a Pearl Jam fan, those Idles and Fontaines DC albums slapped hard. I don't think there is a repeated lyric in Fontaines DC's Starburster. As Idles would say, "It goes and it goes and it goes."
I think the kids say slapped.
I'm here for the latest IDLES record. I really like Dark Matter, but TANGK for the win in that category, on my vote
Yeah I remember seeing DM go up against that and thinking I would have a hard time arguing that DM is a better album. I love DM but TANGK is just younger and raw. It deserved the Grammy
Agree - the energy is badass. It is for DM, as well, but when my mix has a TANGK song come up I am bouncing around.
I was bummed they didn't play more songs from it at Ohana

This performance was really great. I had three thoughts: 1) she is so talented; 2) I am genuinely moved by the semiautobiographical nature of the song and her journey as a small-town queer person who had to leave home to find acceptance; and 3) this is why Trump won.
As usual, there were a number of really fun performances. Sabrina Carpenter is just a delight. I was impressed by Doechii, who is very much not in my lane. Billie Eilish was typically great. And I was prepared to hate Charli XCX-- the whole Brat thing is so overdone-- but she was pretty fantastic. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars are great performers and I enjoyed them, but I would have rather heard them do their Grammy-winning collaboration "Die with a Smile," a great song that also happens to be the current number one on the Hot 100.
I'm just glad we've gotten past Taylor Swift dominance on radio and at awards shows...for now. Sabrina is starting to get a tad annoying to hear all over, but I really like a couple of her singles and hate a few others. I initially didn't like the Bruno/Gaga collab but that song has grown on me. As usual, Bruno disappears for a while and then all of a sudden he's all over on different songs.
Is it bad that I really really liked the new Stones album? It was my favourite since Steel Wheels. I play it often. I could see how it could beat Dark Matter. I'm not even sure which of the two I like better, they're both damn good.
Why would that be bad? Like what you like. It sounds like the Stones, there’s no reason for someone who likes them not to enjoy it
Indeed. I was blown away with how well that album rocks and the guys are 80+. Andrew Watt worked his magic with them as well. It's a good one.

They gotta stop Barkley first

Not bad at all. As we all know music is subjective. There are fellow PJ fans that don't like Dark Matter and I cannot wrap my head around that as I love DM. I don't typically watch the Grammy's but will be checking out the new Stones and Idles releases because of the Grammy's. People shouldn't compare new music without ever really listening to the new music. Stay tuned!
Same. Blows my mind they aren't big on Setting Sun or Waiting For Stevie.
I haven't watched a full broadcast of the Grammys for a long, long time. I just view the highlights these days cause every year it's been awful & awful, imo.
The new Stones album is not bad. That Beyonce album though, is not album of the year material.
The Grammy's are a farce, especially in today's day and age. Tune in for the performances, sure, but the awards themselves don't mean much. Eddie was ahead of his time in relaying that message.
Led Zeppelin having 1 Grammy (which they won in 2014) tells you all you need to know.

I'll have to take your word on Beyonce as I won't go there but have listened to the Stones Hackney Diamonds and its pretty good. Very consistent and has a good vibe to it. I youtubed a couple songs from the Idles and liked it. They definately have an edge to them that I like. Will be listening to more of them.

I just saw a post from John Rich of Big and Rich country fame and he said the Grammy's are rigged. He says the music industry passes around the bucks and trades favors to promote their artists. NO surprise there.

John Rich is also a big MAGA conspiracy guy, but that doesn’t mean he’s entirely wrong here. There’s is a lot of back door politicking that goes on for all of these awards show which makes them kind of a joke in general. You have to play the game and kiss ass to be part of the club. And I’m not a country music fan but to me Beyonces album is definitely not a country album and shouldn’t have won that category. Texas Holdem yes, Joelene cover yes but the rest of it no. Also don’t think the album was that strong in general and think they only gave her AOTY cause they felt it was her time.

John Rich has been in the music industry for many years. He might know more about the inner workings than you. Just a hunch.
Depends what you mean by rigged. I mean, it's voted on by 13,000 members. Those votes are counted by a reputable auditing firm. But are the members pressured and/or paid to make certain votes? Wouldn't surprise me. And everyone has their biases. These members are the artists themselves in many cases, aren't they?

The public donated $7 Million for LA Wildfire relief during the Grammys. But watching Billionaire musicians clapping with approval was hilarious and sad... Especially when considering Jay-Z, Taylor, J-Lo and Beyonce combined are worth over $4 BILLION. These people spend $7 million a day on groceries, maids, pet care and private jets! But surprisingly, Diddy also donated a pallet of baby oil for Newscom to "grease" his presidential asperations, and for Mayor Bass to fire proof her office... I'm just waiting on the Bakersfield to Fresno bullet train to be completed (2047), so I can recoup some the $200 Billion tax dollars wasted on another California disaster... (BTW, I live in LA, lost Palisades business, along with dozens of friends and neighbors who lost everything). But life goes on. And finally, the Kansas City Swifts will lose the Super Bowl, and Kelce will get dumped before Valentines day... Anyway, the Warden said I have to return to my cell. Peace and love to all.
Pretty sure Beyoncé and Taylor donated in the immediate aftermath.
And Swift donated $5 million to Feeding America in the wake of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton last year. And gave $197 million in bonuses to her tour crew.
To that other guy's post: if that was a parody, well done; if it wasn't: you know, all of those artists who donated their time (and many of whom donated their money) didn't have to do any of it. Shitting on people who volunteered to put on a benefit that raised $100 million-- and provided a ton of entertainment that cost you nothing to watch-- is a sign that you might be a little too consumed by politics.
