Soundgarden has always been one of my favorite bands...I'm so happy to hear that they are getting back together...my only concern is...hopefully this does not effect Pearl Jam's tour this year!!! We need more Pearl Jam dates in North America besides just the Jazz festival.
I have to believe that they will support PJ for at least a few shows...the advertising from the PJ camp makes me feel like there must be a stronger connection than just Matt playing for SG....thats what I hope anyway

I kinda hope they don't try to put out an album though. Seems like that would greatly push back the time of any upcoming PJ tours.
Also, I'm pretty sure Matt and SG know Chris well enough to realize that anything more than a few shows would be more than they can put up with.
Hopefully its just a small tour or side project. Pearl Jam are on fire right now. They don't need a has been band like Soundgarden slowing them down while they are still relevant. Pearl Jam should be pumping as many albums out as they can over the next few years. Their days as a rock band with high energy are limited.
Mixed feelings on this. I have never been a huge Soundgarden fan, or interested in much more than the singles, so while it would be cool if I could catch them play a show, ... I see Matt as a member of PJ, not SG, and I would hate to lose him to a full time gig in Soundgarden, or have it delay new music or touring with PJ. I guess we will see how it plays out.
words seem so out of place.

you bring up a very good point. Maybe pj and sg will do just festivals in NA and tour cities near the festivals. Its very odd this is all pj doing and nothing from the SG camp.

Guys like Jack White and Warren Haynes prove you can balance more than one band and be productive. I think it's a matter of desire.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
Can't wait for the presumed album/tour (though do hope MC keeps his loyalty to PJ if there are clashes). Saw Cornell's last solo tour in the UK and he did a massive set with various Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and Solo stuff - incredible, one of the best vocal performances I've ever heard.
If SG and PJ toured together Matt could have a rest in the middle if Alice in Chains did a triple header with them; now that's really dreaming!
play a 15-20 date tour in the spring/summer...it would be epic.
Or how about a 3 day festival at Alpine Valley!

Great news if it doesn't affect PJ. Bad news if it does. What if they go into it with the intention of just doing a tour... and then they decide to get back together again?
PJ would get hosed. Matt makes the band happy.
Trust me.. a hugely successful band doesn't just randomly get back together after 12 years for the love of it. I can't see Cornell having a change of heart for strictly the music..as much as i hate to say it, this is most likely a money thing. Either way. I was amazed when i saw Cornell a few years ago and could never imagine seeing the original Soundgarden live and now i have the chance! At least that will be one band off my "bands i have never and will never see " list. I am pumped for this Either A. the two bands will tour at separate times, making Matt a rich but tired man or B. they will tour together (which is unlikely but would be really sweet) Either way.. i don't think Matt's leaving pearl jam so i wouldn't worry;)
I'm just hoping they come around philly, maybe with PJ?
