I know that if I went out to eat and left a tip that I deemed enough and learned that I was being talked about by staff and the owner looked my name up in the phone book, I'd be pissed. This guy spent $80 at the establishment!
And another thing about prices shooting up, the prices in restaurants here are just the same as prices in restaurants in the US... but here waitresses get the same minimum wage...live pearl jam is best pearl jam0 -
Oh for fucks sake. Some people tip NO MATTER what. Others have their own way of doing it or not. Does everyone GET THAT? Let this thing die already._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

if they are paid the same, why would the prices be any different? the argument was if you pay the wait staff more, the restaurant will logically have to raise their prices to offset the higher cost of their staff.www.myspace.com0 -
Hahahahahhahahhaha, I figured this argument would be in this thread......you dopes. :roll:0

Redrock can go work for crappy tips is the UK so she can never afford to screw over waiters in the US because of her crazy crusade against the government.
How nice. Well... I don't wait on tables and I get a very decent salary so don't rely on people's generosity to make up for my boss' greed in paying next to nothing. Also, I may currently live in the UK, but am not English.
You may call it a crazy crusade, but as long as people like you find it normal to be screwed over by their boss and don't stand up to it, we'll get threads like this where certain category of workers get pissed off because charity is not given to them.
Again... you sow what you reap.0 -

MrSmith wrote:so just so im sure, you are for not giving any tip for good service? only amazing service (whatever that its)?
There are MANY ways a skilled waiter/waitress can provide a service 'beyond the call of duty'. Many of them are little things that don't require much from the waiting staff but have an impact on the dining experience of the customer. Those skilled and experienced waiters/waitresses will know what I'm talking about....
When will people understand that all of us lucky enough to have a job, have a standard to work with - this is what we get paid for. It's no different with the catering industry. If one chooses to accept a job where management decides not to pay their staff a fair wage, they know what they are getting into (and please don't start with the 'some people don't have a choice' - I know, times are tough and a job is a job).Post edited by redrock on0 -

Ummmm.... the cheap bastards will be the employer, not the customer. Good on you not to let it die then... insist on a fair wage - stop depending on people's goodwill.0 -

I think the fact that a couple were arrested for not paying the tip... yes... 'only in America'.
The fact that the catering/hotel/restaurant industry rips their employees off, unfortunately not, though it would seem that it is so much more flagrant in the US. The UK has problems with that too, but there is legislation in place to protect the worker.0 -
americans seems to be obsessed by being labelled 'cheap'? whats with that... obnoxious, loud, bolshy, rude, egotistical you all seem fine with.... but call an american 'cheap' and its worse than if you had just told them that you had sex with their mother AND father at the same time... and he loved it more...
tipping is moronic...oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

the person who left a $50 tip for an hours work is a flash moron who probably deserves to be the victim of a Nigerian banking scam... :thumbup:oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -
