If you have never heard this album, do yourself a favour, this is a post-punk must from 1980 and a big influence on the Red Hot Chili Peppers musically. :)

    and REM
    and Bloc Party
    and Franz Fedinand
    and Fugazi
    and Modest Mouse
    and Savages

That album is text-book material on post-punk. My Father's Son sounds ripped right out of Gang Of Four's playbook.

Reminds me of a somewhat odd but fascinating show where I saw R.E.M. around the time "Reckoning" came out and at the end of their set they invited a couple of the Gang of Four members to come on and play a few numbers with them. It was a bit like trying to infuse an excellent wine with fine machine oil.

Yep, agreed Mookey, Bloc Party and Franz most def. This took me a few listens to get into, probably because of the early 80's production, but once hooked absolutely love it. Great political lyrics, awesome beats, bass lines and definitely great to hear on vinyl over any CD or MP3 version.
