Thanks for posting this. Great read. There's really no one I would like to see running the team than the Steinbrenner family.

Maybe Jeter will get involved when he retires. He has stated he'd like to be the owner or involved in an ownership capacity.

He'd be the only other person I'd like to see to help run the team. He's bound to whenever he retires.

  • I did not notice one Yankee in the crowd at the ESPY's. Anyone else? Strange... usually each champ team has at least one member of the team there. & they were in LA anyway.

Henry entered Major League Baseball with his purchase of a small interest in the New York Yankees in 1991. Henry became the sole owner of the Florida Marlins in 1999, purchasing the Major League club from Huizenga for a reported $158,000,000. In January 2002 Henry sold the Marlins in a multi-franchise deal to Jeffrey Loria then owner of the Montreal Expos (now the Washington Nationals). Simultaneously, Henry led a purchase of the Boston Red Sox with partners Tom Werner and the New York Times Company from the Yawkey Trust headed by John Harrington. Henry, as principal owner and, Werner, as chairman, assembled a front office team headed up by Larry Lucchino with the express goal of "breaking the Curse of the Bambino." He accomplished this feat in the 2004 World Series, against his former childhood favorite Cardinals, and again in 2007, against a franchise with which he had pre-expansion involvement, the Rockies.

Ha. Actually it was my first time watching since Giants won the super bowl. I like reliving and celebrating the year when one of my teams wins. Plus im also a huge Brees fan. I gotta admit except for the fact the yanks were not there, it was a good show. They did a big special on coach Ed Thomas who got murdered in Iowa that was very touching.

Posada's homerun reminded me of the footage of Reggie's second homer in the WS: quick off the bat.
