Posted this in the Steinbrenner thread but seems more fitting here.

It is pretty crazy how different generations of Yankees fans feel about the man. All are sad today but my father spent the majority of my childhood cursing his existence. Obviously he learned his lessons and made the Yankees, the Yankees again but there are plently of Yankees faithful who despised him for a long time. No matter what, it's a sad day.

That is what i was thinking to. I am really glad they were able to win last year and they are the best team in baseball (record wise) at his passing.

They'll probably wear two arm bands for the rest of their season.

The Yankees will wear a patch above the interlocking NY on their home uniforms. And above York on their road uniforms to commemorate George. And a patch on their left sleeves to commemorate Bob.

When Jeter was talking to the Baseball Tonight crew about a half hour ago, I only saw an arm band on his left sleeve. There was nothing on the right.

Saw that about the patches on lo hud, going to be funny seeing the unis with a patch on the front. Very well deserved for both of them. Sad sad week. Both lived incredible lives

Leave it to George to go out with the spotlight. As a young Yankee fan growing up in the 80's, he drove me crazy with his antics and his arrogance. I always knew, though, that George would do whatever he thought would help the Yankees win a World Series. That was his goal every year. That's really all you could ask of an owner. Fortunately he eventually let his baseball people take more control of the baseball decisions and the Yanks started winning World Series. He certainly left his mark on the game.

Don't know why Alex ddn't get an at-bat. He likes to hit in that park.

This is why Girardi wasn't my choice for manager.
