i liked the Paul O'Neill comparision Micheal Kay made, put's it into perspective. You can get mad and hit things, but you better not hurt yourself.

    this sucks.

1 - cannot have one of your top pitchers miss the month of august.
2 - cy young chances out the window.

yankees will overcome though. but man, we will need AJ's game to come back to life.

what could you possibly have against Price? I'd have preferred a no-decision with a few runs and a lot of strikeouts. He's on my money league team.

consider this, the normal recovery time for a Grade 1 is two to three weeks. Factor in a 38-year-old with at least 3,000 regular-season innings already thrown. So that means he'll miss the following starts (barring rainouts):

    July 25 vs KC
    July 30 at Tampa Bay
    August 4 vs. Toronto
    August 10 at Texas
    August 15 at Kansas City

Good stuff. Not the toughest schedule of teams to face. Hopefully Mitre can somewhat get it done in the short term.

This is from Buster Olney on Twitter, not a bad idea:
About the Yankees' pitching needs: They could look to add a starting pitcher, and use the extra body to create a safety net for Joba Chamberlain. For example: They could trade for Brett Myers, use him in the rotation, and then shift him to the 8th inning if needed later down the road. Or they could swap for a Jake Westbrook or Ted Lilly, and then in September and October, they could shift Phil Hughes into the bullpen. There are a lot of starting pitchers available, and it makes sense for them to add one of them. They have an advantage in that they're one of the few teams willing to take on payroll.

really? The only thing I can think of is that he said in a recent article written by a close friend that the Rays lineup can stack up with the Yankees. I hardly see a problem with that. But since I have a 7 1/2 point lead today, I can excuse one bad start from him.

I didn't see that, I just have always not really liked him, then Saturday very early in the game he was celebrating after one of the home runs like it was the 8th inning of Game 7 of the ALCS.

To his point about the lineups though. I am not really scared of the Rays lineup. Sure they have some players that can put up some solid numbers and come up with a big hit but besides Crawford and Longoria their lineup is not all that great. Pena batting around .200, Upton around .230, etc.

eh, not a big deal with the celebrating on either end. I could care less if Price celebrates and I barely cared when Joba Chamberlain pumps his fist.

Yeah, I don't know why it bugged me. Joba never bothered me so it does not make much sense. Can't I just dislike the best pitcher on the Yanks biggest competition? Even if it is irrational.

definitely, I'm biased in favor of him because I have him in a money league. My preference would be every time the Yankees face him that he pitches seven innings, strikes out 10, get a no-decision and the Yanks win 3-2 or 2-1.

Yeah, that would be nice for you but from a strictly fan perspective here on out, I would love to see him with an ERA of 17.5

Basically posted this in the Phillies theard but figured I would move this over here. What happens at the deadline? I am all in favor of the Yanks making a run at Ted Lilly. Have him fill in for Pettitte for the time being, let Hughes approach his innings limit then move him to the bullpen. Kills two birds with one stone.

Brett Myers is another option but I would prefer not to have a complete scumbag on the roster.

He has to figure out how to locate consistently and he has like 3 days to figure it out. Not going to be a pretty scene in the Bronx if he can't get it together.
