They're in a sport called AFL.

This was their premiership win in 2005, their first in 72 years.

Swans were up by 4 points (a goal is worth 6 points), if the other team marked it (caught the ball) they would of had a free kick for goal after the siren to win. This is where one of the most iconic moments in AFL history comes in. I hope you enjoy

Aussie Rules Football, I know it fairly well., lived in New Zealand for a couple years as a kid. Never could quite get into it as much as Rugby but always found it interesting. I will definitely take a look at this. Thanks for sharing.

Spent a little time in Australia while we were living in New Zealand. Mal Meninga was my favorite player in Rugby League.

Edit: I still have this exact jersey.

Ah good work. YEh I love Rugby League too. Smell Mefinger was a great player. Big and strong. Though the canberra raiders haven't returned to its lofty heights of 89,90 and94 when Mal was playing.

I get shivers watching it. I am so passionate about the 'bloods'as they are also known, and truly was one of, if not the best day of my life.

The next year, the Swans were beaten in the grandfinal by 1 point against the same team. That was one of the worst days of my life. Even though the margin was smaller, the 2005 has been largely regarded as the better of the two.

I just hope I can experience it again one day. If it takes another 72 years, well I'll be 6ft under or in the form of ashes.

And Mal, he was a great player and seems a decent person, and I am a fan. It's just I don't know if you have heard of State of Origin, but he has coached QLD to 4 consecutive series wins, and they will probably make it 5 this year. And I am from New South Wales, so it's killing me.

He actually has the record for the shortest political career of all time. A whopping 28 seconds from the time he announced it

That is awesome, man. Hopefully it won't take so long next time. Getting back and losing a heartbreaker had to be rough. I am right there with you although as a Yankees fan, I have seen a few championships in my life. Your team sounds very similar to the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees biggest rival. They didnt win for 86 years and beat the Yankees and won it all.

I did not know any of this about Mal, I kind of lost track of rugby a couple years after I returned to the states. That is interesting. So not only was he a good player but he is turning out to be a good coach as well? Very funny about his political career.

This is all oustanding info. My parents will love the update on Mal, thanks a lot.

He is good, but his players are what makes him. HE has some ridiculously freakish players in his side, and they are just dominating.

While in NZ, I was also a huge fna of Grant Fox.

They pick the best players from NSW and the best players from QLD.

So AUstralia has the best league players in the world and the game is riddled with awesome tries, big hits, big fights everything. Mal just coach's qld.
