Boy Montero would sure be a nice power player to plug into the catcher/dh position right now. Please keep Cashman away from the trading table from now on.

Only a matter of time now.

    until? :? :?

    Youk in the Bronx.
  • 3B? How old is Nunez? I know he's pretty bad in the field, but is there room for improvement? I thought he was a decent hitter. Just Please no Youk.

Is Pierzynski a possibility at Catcher?

And someone metioned it the otehr day --is Gardner and Ichiro in the same outfield a bad thing?

I'll gladly have Nunez in the field. I just hope he works like hell in the off season and spring training on his fielding. He can hit and he has great speed running.

A lot of people are assuming Ichiro is done. He;s far from done.

I like Ichiro too. And I kinda like the idea of ichiro and Gardner.
in that article it says: "Russell Martin wasn’t worth a multi-year deal, led to their starting catcher signing a two-year deal for $17 million with the Pirates."

17 million?! Did he even break .199 avg? :fp:

Montero is not a good catcher, he's well below league average.

but he can hit, and if he wasn't playing in that staduim and in that lineup he would have value.

in a side note Jason Bay singing there is a pisser, he went from the 3rd worst park to hit in to the 2nd worst park to hit in, only Sandy Diego is Worse.

I wouldn't say well below. But the Yankees did win with Posada behind the plate.

That's why I qualified it as the catcher/dh position.

Montero would be nice to have but Sanchez is definitely the better long term option.

Well they need power...a middle of the lineup bat...and a 3B. If it happens seems like a good signing to me.

If Pineda didn't get hurt he would be a nice 2-3 right now but no going back now. Anyway I read grandy, Hughes and Nova are all on the block so we'll see if cash has any moves on the horizon.

Cash on the trading block is not the best situation.

I honestly can not think of single deal he has made that worked well for the team. I'm not meaning this towards you, but can anyone here please remind me of any good Cashman trades? I seriously can not recall any. I guess Ichiro worked out thinking about it, but other than that I can't think of one.
  • David Justice trade there's others as well, swish and abreu but I'm not a fan of cash I think the Yankees need to move on a find someone new

Looking player for player trades here are ones I call wins.

    Chuck Knoblach
    Jim Leyritz
    Dave Justice
    Luis Sojo
    Raul Mondesi
    Ruben Sierra
    Aaronn Fucking Boone
Arod (obviously a great trade at the time, terrible contract later)
    Bobby Abreu

List I was looking at ends there

But since then off the top of my head...

    Nick Swisher (fucking steal)
    Jerry Hairston
All Teams are happy with the Granderson trade, gonna take a few years to fully judge.
    Kerry Wood
    Ichiro

Trades are gambles. No GM is perfect.

David Justice trade there's others as well, swish and abreu but I'm not a fan of cash I think the Yankees need to move on a find someone new

And replace him with who? I'd obviously love someonel ike Freidman, but I can't see that happening.

I am pretty certain the next Yankees GM is going to be Billy Eppler with Cashman moving to something along the lines of what Theo is.
  • Good job Cliffy your memory is much better than mine. The Arod trade was a great move especially getting Texas to pay part of the contract, hank fucked that all up I would've never resigned him after he opted out and we lost the Texas money.

Eppler or Oppenheimer would be my first choices, no issues with cash moving up like theo.

Leyritz was traded for a guy who never made it to the major leagues. How is that not a win?

Mondesi was traded for a guy who ended up with a whole 2.2 big league innings. How is that not a win?

Sierra was better than Thames at that point but that one is debatable.

Ehhh, I'd like to take credit but I MLBTR has an awsome list up until 2008. I mentioned I was looking at a list. haha.

Fair enough. I would imagine it will be one of the two. I only say Eppler because he is now the assistant GM.

With Mondesi if you count taking on a huge salary who didn't really do anything hile with the Yankees or after as a win...ok. Leyritz was a bit part in his second tenure with the team and really didn't do anything either. And Sierra was a fourth outfielder in his second swing through town with another big contract. I really don't consider those wins to be honest. Some necessary moves maybe throughout a season to fill holes but nothing earth shattering. What I am looking through now is some of the talent the Yankees have let go in the Cashman tenure and the players they took on. :o
