But that's not even the point. I don't have a dog in the race. I just want what's best for the Yankees. Robertson seems to throw A LOT of pitches every time he's out there that makes even back to backs sketchy.

Again, if the "back up" is the guy that can go 3 days in a row, is he in fact the "back up?" So, why pretend otherwise? Doesn't that lead to issues in planning/strategy?

And why would you be pulling for one guy over another? Is he on your fantasy team or is he a relative?

He's on my fantasy team but I also believe he's the better option.

Ok. I'll ignore the first part because that is 100% rational.

But, to the 2nd - why? I don't see that honestly. I would hope the younger/home grown guy would get it too. But, the evidence is to the contrary. And if they don't come to that reality soon, he'll save plenty of games, but cost them enough of them either directly or indirectly by taking an arm out of the bullpen every other day that it won't be worth it.

It's not the saves a closer gets (even the worst save almost 90% of chances). It's the ones they don't.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

They're putting the shift on Swisher now. It seems like every Yankee not named Jeter gets the shift.

Girardi needs to stop pretending Tex is a good hitter anymore and drop this bum to at least 7th.

Not the best start from Pettitte but it could have been worse.

It seems like he was doing well until the 6th inning. I understand why Girardi left him in--had had a low pitch count and he's not some rookie who can't get out of jams. In the end, he pitched well enough to make me think he can still be a good pitcher even after a year off.

Had tickets to yesterdays game but couldn't make it because of a trip to AC all weekend. I was happy with the way he pitched and am kind of happy he didn't pitch an absolute gem since I would have been furious to miss it.

Anyone catch Cone talking about why he retired after the 2001 season? Talking about how he missed New York and just didn't feel it after everything that happened. First time I have heard a major leaguer making a career decision because of 9/11. Was a really good conversation they had. Cone is the best.

I don't know of any other team that comes into seasons with too much pitching like the yankees do and somehow before June are short on arms. Seems like this shit happens every year. :?

Robertson to the DL. Damn it.

I hope Robertson isn't on the DL for very long. It's hard to believe that a year ago people were questioning why the team signed Soriano and now he's the best healthy option they have to close out games for at least the next 2 weeks. He's not a bad option to have, but I don't think too many people thought they'd need him in that role with Mo and Robertson around.
